Lady Gaga SLAMS PETA, Rejects Pressure From "Violent, Abusive, Childish" Group

by at . Comments

Earlier this week, PETA slammed Lady Gaga, labeling the star a "turncoat" and demanding to know if some of the furs she's recently worn are real.

Rather than succumb to pressure, Mother Monster hit back!

In response to PETA and fan backlash, Gaga fired off a statement on her website basically saying she has a right to do (and wear) what she wants.

Lady Gaga, Fur Coat

Some have accused the manicure and handjob lover of being a hypocrite, not to mention petulant, in her response to PETA, but she's standing her ground.

In a well-formulated, refreshingly honest response, Gaga defends herself and calls out the organization for bullying (and flour-bombing Kim Kardashian).

"I want you to know that I care deeply about your feelings and views, and I will always support your philosophies about life," the 26-year-old writes.

"We've been having long and over-arching conversations about society, equality, and politics for the past five years, and we should continue."

However, "I do not however support violent, abusive, and childish campaigns for ANY CAUSE. Particularly one that I respect. 'Animal Rights.'"

"I am choosing not to comment on whether or not the furs I purchase are faux or real because I would think it hypercritical not to acknowledge the python, ostrich, cow hide, leather, lamb, alligator, 'kermit' and not to mention meat, that I have already worn."

"This should already put me in a category as one who appreciates and adores the beauty of animals in fashion, but am not a strict vegan."

"I have truly always stayed away from skinned fur, especially i have never been able to afford a nice one, but this does not mean my morals are rigid and that I won't bend at the sight of an absolute art piece of a coat."

"You see a carcass, I see a museum pièce de résistance. I am truly sorry to fans who are upset by this, its a fair and applaudable feeling about the health and safety of animals. I respect your views, please respect mine."

"And to campaigners, Save your flour to make bread for the children who are hungry. And Kim Kardashian is fabulous."

Wow, a celebrity who says what they think and doesn't fear the public relations backlash? Whatever you think of her views, it's hard not to respect that.

On the flip side, if she blatantly said, as PETA claims, that she hates fur and doesn't wear fur, how can she not expect to hear from them about this?

PETA has lost touch with reality. We now have to pay for overnight security at horse shows because of a threat they would release our horses. The show grounds are in a very populated area, and the horses could have been hit by cars, injuring themselves or people. Way to protect animals, PETA!

She is not the first star to wear fur! Honestly what does PETA even do? I know what they are, I just dont know what they do that is productive. Flour bombing Kim Kardashian is not very productive. That just makes the whole organization seem very violent. And going after Lady Gaga because she wore fur?, remember when PETA named Paris Hilton the worst dressed because she wore the most fur? AND remember Jennifer Lopez's clothes line Sweetface? Did that not use fur? PETA use your time to save animals, and do something productive for once!

I wonder how many PETA members have leather seats in their cars?

People, you need to get over yourselves. Yes, people wear fur, even if they once said they wouldn't. This is America. The land of freedom where people are allowed to have opinions.

I don't agree with wearing fur, its kind of one of those things where its kind of like this for me: "Well, I wish people wouldn't do that, but I think you should have the right to wear it, or whatever you want." I really do respect what Gaga told peta though, and its probably Faux fur shes wearing in that photograph, as it is dyed, and to me it just doesn't make sense to dye real fur like that.. unless its something like a lucky rabbits foot.

I am a Lady gaga fan but I do not in any capacity support the killing of animals for fashion. The food chain is such that we are meant to eat meat...but that does not give us a license to kill animals for their coats. That is a disgusting, cruel practice and I feel that Lady Gaga, and any other role model who chooses to engage in enabling those who kill for fur to make money, irresponsible and insensitive. I still will enjoy Lady Gaga and her music but I am very disappointed in her.

One way to hell is listening to secular music...Gospel over comes the problem..GOD is calling you guys.

Really??? lighten up people. Did you know its in our DNA to eat meat?? and If we were still "cave men" you peta people would die from starvation and being exposed to elements for wearing no clothes. Who cares what she wears you have too much time on your hands if you call someone out for what they wear. I love you gaga!! Im glad you called them out for wasting flour when there are starving children in the world!!!

Well, I support Gaga on this one because I really dislike PETA, however I think it funny that Gaga criticizes PETA of using shock tactics (labeling them violent and childish etc)...ahem, Gaga!

Leave her alone and let her wear what she wants! Too many people today trying to tell everyone else what to do! This is still America get over yourselves!
