James Holmes Dubbed Mentally Ill by Defense Team
by Hilton Hater at .James Holmes made another appearance in court today, as a hearing was held to listen to arguments from media outlets who believe a judge should unseal various documents related to the July 20 movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado.
Both sides - the prosecution and the defense - actually prefer to keep these documents away from the public while the case is pending.
But while a decision was not made regarding that issue, Holmes' attorneys did show their hand a bit:
They asked for prosecutors and investigators turn over every shred of evidence in their possession in order for the alleged killer's legal team to make a determination.
"We cannot begin to assess the nature and the depth of Mr. Holmes' mental illness until we receive full disclosure of all the documents," a lawyer told the judge, hinting they will pursue an insanity defense.
Holmes faces 24 counts of first-degree murder. The state has not revealed yet whether it plans to ask for the death penalty.

Race-schmace! The point is the man committed an unspeakable crime! An insanity plea has to be proven by very specific requirements. Let's see if the defendant's lawyers can make the case. I think it's highly doubtful, but....they've got right to attempt such a move! His lawyers better be more concerned about a possible tainted jury. I mean...who hasn't heard of this tragedy! Better focus energy on getting a change of venue as their best hope!
I don't think he is insane i think he is acting so he can basically get away with it. they should put him on trial regardless, he planned it out an then he carried it out. he knew exactly what he was doing an now he got caught he is crying insanity.
@Jen don't be a stereotype quit playing the f*cking race card. The DC snipers lawyer tried to play the insanity card and his client would not let him. When it comes to the insanity plee, I have this to say I am sure the f*cker is insane however so are rabid dogs and we put them down. They should just throw his ass in general population and let come what may. Save the taxpayers the cost of a trial and keeping his ass for years.

Leave it to a racist to play the race card.Thats the problem with many- they don't get excited until AFTER they have checked to see what the victim/defendant looks like. Not to mention the fact that so so so so many forget that there is a process that has to do with a trial and verdict. Chicago is a shoot out each week yet cases like Zimmerman is what many put there effort into. Be it insane or WHATEVER- truth is there is a HUGE problem in regards to color when it comes to who kills who and there is always a FOOL that thinks if we can all get away with murder then we are all the better for it.
