Farrah Abraham Admits Drug Use, Depression, Suicide Plan in New Book

by at . Comments

Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham recently felt so depressed that she considered suicide, she admitted in an interview while promoting her new book.

"All I could think about was killing myself," she says, and she even mapped out some specifics. "I figured I would drown myself in the bathtub."

"That seemed like the easiest way to go."

Farrah Abraham Book

In My Teenage Dream Ended, the now-21-year-old single mother says her lowest point occurred two years after her daughter Sophia's birth.

Raising Sophia alone, coupled with the tragic death of her ex, Derek Underwood, in a car accident when she was pregnant, was too much to bear.

"We hadn't spoken in more than two months," Farrah says about her ex-boyfriend, "but crazily I had still hoped we had a future together."

Before she was diagnosed with clinical depression, Farrah Abraham says she coped with her issues via alcohol, cocaine and marijuana abuse.

Only after therapy and medication is she "back on track."

"I was being selfish," she says. "The most important thing is making sure that [Sophia's] well taken care of - how am I going to do that if I'm dead?"

A fair point. One that Amber Portwood, who's allegedly tried to take her own life as well, should consider as she serves out her prison sentence.

Shes a 21 year old woman who works, goes to school, and takes care of a 3 year old. Do you understand how stressful that is? What kind of depression that leads to? She's ALLOWED to feel this way. She was mature enough to speak out and get help before it escalated. How about you hop off your high horses and find your compassion.

I can't believe the comments I'm reading. Farrah's twenty-one years old, she had a child at sixteen. I'm twenty-two and I don't have children, but I can just imagine the stress it could bring. When she was sixteen her boyfriend (the baby's dad) died, how hard must have that been for her? Not to mention she was pregnant. She was diagnosed with depression and has already admitted to having suicidal thoughts and people still have the audacity to rag on her. Those making rude comments shouldn't judge someone they don't know. Your words don't reflect on Farrah, they reflect on you.

I had my son when I was 18 and can understand first hand how hard it is to be a single mother at such a young age. It is not easy and it is very hard to know what choices are right when you have so little life experience...that being said I can honestly say never was there ever one second that I would ever have considered killing my self as a solution to my problems....i realize I am not her and dont know what could have led her to considering suicide but I know that even if I had felt that desperate I would never have been able to even think of leaving

I'm 48, I was a teen mom, it's one of the hardest things a teen girl can go thru. She could of aborted her child she didn't. She could have lied about everything, she didn't. I don't understand why so many of you are focused on the bad choices instead we all as humans should be helping those teens, stop n think before u open up your mouth and spew out such evil things. I'm sure we all know someone or have family who have made bad choices but I don't hear anyone knocking them down with awful words. GOD is all our judge n jury, none of you. Each n everyone of you have done something your not proud off, so don't throw stones you'll smash up your glass houses. JUST SAYING!

Can everyone just grow up. If you dont like talking or reading about her then stop putting your self in situations that deal worth her. Common sense, let's see...if you don't like her then why would you read a article about her. Anyone that has said negative things is insensitive and rude. She's going through a lot and your negative feed back is only making things worse. I don't understand how people can put negative things in a comment that deals worth some one admitting that they want to kill themself! Do you see how stupid you people are?! Simple don't like her then don't read the article, not rocket science.

Like amber farrah also needs help and she its getting it... Its not easy being a single teen mom... Yes she needs to be more respectful to her parents but think that's the way they obviously raised her and her mom is also a little nuts... But i think Farrah is a beautiful young woman who loves her daughter and i hope she over comes the issues in get life

jen, thank you for that comment. You too Mrs. Rios. How can the world be so BLIND with what a piece of garbage this kid is? It aggravates me so fking much. She's a piece of trash, and I'm so fed up with everyone idolizing this girl and loving and stalking her every move. Honestly guys, grow up. I catch the teen mom episodes, and it gets under my skin. Like literally, these little brats need to pay for their consequences. "I'm taking a bartending class to strengthen my resume". Wait, I'm confused, was she going to school for something in the club industry? That's like me, a pharmacist, saying I'm going to become a male stripper, to strengthen my CV . Idiots. all idiots, and you people that feel bad for her and love her, hah. Yes shes been through a lot, but so has the American public. grow up guys.

I feel bad for her. But she does need to be more respectful to her parents- that's for sure.

this is AWFUL! so Awful! Imagine when Sophia grows up and she's see's this book titled "My teenage dream ended" with herself and her mother on the cover? How will she feel? I would be humiliated and depressed... I honestly think Sophia should live with her grandmother I don't think Farrah's the best emotional support for her daughter, especially as an only parent she's terrible she shows she doesn't want her daughter, still.

I dont belive judging Farrah is the way to go. She obviously has many issues she is dealing with and needs all the help she can get. She has been through a tragic death so now she has to deal with Sophia not knowing her father. Her parenting skills are deffinently not the best but the least everyone can do is pray to god for the family and hope that , the little angel Sophia stays safe because she is in gods hand.
