It is really sad that as far as we have come that some idiot can take us back so far. How many of our leading actors over the years have been gay, either openly out or not that have played a heterosexual man and did a wonderful job. I don't think one's sexual preference should stop them from an acting role. That is why they are actors, they are portraying a role. I for one am hoping for Ian Somerhalder for the role of Christian Grey, but Matt Bomer would be good too.
Matt Bomer is TOO GOOD for this role. He is certainly more than capable of pulling it off, and anyone who claims he can't portray a straight man because he's gay is prejudiced and apparently ignorant of what it means to be an ACTOR.
A special nod goes out to the ditz who said she couldn't enjoy the movie knowing the premise was fake. Uh, right. Because 50 Shades of Grey is a documentary. Idiots.
It's hard to believe any respectable actor would want to denigrate himself by associating with such a laughable role, anyway. I mean, we're talking about a poorly written work of fiction that was INSPIRED BY the Twilight series. Think that one over for a minute.
No I don't want Matt for one reason only. He is not Jensen Ackles. Jensen fits the role for his looks, his edge, his sexiness, and his acting ability.
Love Matt Bomer &think he would rock the part! That being said...as I read the books I realized I was "seeing" Ashton Kutcher. I know! I was surprised too. I watched a few of Ashton's movies this week & I totaly get it. He would be great too.
Can't believe that Bret Easton Ellis could not tell fact from fiction. Fact. Matt Bomer will pull it off with his acting skills. Fiction. That's the book. Fact. Bret is NO longer involved so he can shove it with his opinions. Perhaps it's time to retire somewhere and write another book of fiction.
Anyone saying he shouldn't play because he's gay, is an idiot. It's a MOVIE with ACTORS based on a FICTION novel! Maybe it's time to take a step back and live your real life instead of putting so much into a FANTASY.
Nothing against Matt, I am a HUGE fan of Ian Somerhalder and think he is PERFECT to play Christian. He is a sexy bad ass man who could melt an iceberg just by looking at it. He is the reason I read the books and think he could play Christian with ease.He loves women and I think it would look and seem more natural watching this kind of movie. The books are very sexual and I think Matt is a great actor, but feel the part would be more realistic played by a straight actor. I for one when I picture the red room of pain want to think of a man that truely wants a women and know how to satisfy her.
Well, for sure it wouldn't be the aging Bret getting the part .. Matt's hot and that could easily fit the role if you ask me.
Matt Bomer is the perfect Christian Grey - gay or not. His sexuality is unneccessarily being used as a reason for him not to be cast. He should be judged on his acting alone. The man is totally appealing, sexy, handsome, debonair and should be totally considered for this movie. The producers are not going to cast someone they think can't pull off this, but Matt should be judged for his acting alone - and for that he should be cast as CG. Not for his private life. Noone judged Charlize Theron, Heath Ledger, Jake G, for their performances as a gay person when they are straight - why should it be the other way around. Matt doesnt have the problem, it's those that can't see passed it. And as for Bret Easton Ellis.....pfft....scum!
I've watched Matt Bomer play heterosexual characters for years and never had any clue he was gay. The man is gorgeous, sexy, and has had wonderful chemistry with several actresses. That's why they call it acting and he obviously has a talent for it. I'd love to see Matt in this role. I think Ellis is the one being ludicrous here.
