Katie looks like one of the Stepford Wives in the photo above. I wouldn't want my child to be raised in a scientology atmosphere either. However, didn't she know that when she accepted marriage to Tom? I mean, to now say, "Oh, by the way...I don't want her raised scientology, I want her Catholic" is a little bit after the fact. If I was getting married to a Muslim for instance, I might know on my wedding day or before that the possibility exists that any future children might be exposed to Muslim. So, either we don't know all the details, or Tom wasn't willing to compromise AT ALL. We don't know.
