Stars React to Colorado Shooting, Push for Gun Control Laws

by at . Comments

Amidst the sadness and shock over the fatal Aurora, Colorado shooting at a Dark Knight Rises screening early Friday morning, many celebrities have taken to Twitter to express their sympathy for the victims and their families.

Many have also used this as an opportunity to push for stricter gun laws, an area in which President Barack Obama has been considered a total failure by The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

Batman Mourns

Here is a sampling of star Tweets on the matter. Read through them and share your take with us now:

Cory Monteith: guns don't kill people, people do etc.. but until we can fix society somehow you probably shouldn't be able to buy AR-15's at a fishing shop ... such a senseless tragedy. when are we going to reconsider the role of guns in society? how many more times does this have to happen?

Susan Sarandon: The right to bear arms was referring to muskets. Maybe it's time to re-think our gun policy on this day of slaughter in Colorado.

Piers Morgan: Lunatics like this will always try and get guns. It should be 100,000 times harder than it is for them to do so. That's my point.

Miley Cyrus (in a retweet): Less guns = less psychopaths who can get guns = less innocent lives lost....seems pretty obvious to me.

Chris Daughtry: Stricter gun laws will not stop SICK people from getting access to guns...Laws & rules are not in the forefront of the mind of a criminal.

John Leguizamo: My heart goes 2 all the victims families in colorado. No one should have to go thru that. When r we gonna get guns removed in this country?!

Bryan Greenberg: People against gun control are you kidding me?! Don't even try to justify having a AR-15 for personal use. Not necessary!!

Josh Hopkins: Dear news media, In reporting about tragedy in Colorado please do less about 'does Batman promote violence' & more about gun control. Thanks.

Having a hand gun to provide protection (I don't and never will) is bad enough, but I do understand that.
What I want to hear from NRA backers is justification for ANY civilian being able to buy an assault
rifle and thousands of rounds of ammunition! THAT SHOULD BE AGAINST ALL LAWS!
Ok, NTA people, tell me how you stand behind that!

It's not guns that are the problem. I myself don't own any, but I know several responsible owners. Prohibition created more crime and people still drank, "getting guns out of America" would, I feel have a very similar effect.

@Matt-Secondly, ideally a person with normal brain activity, cannot provide detail info about other killing sprees unless he is obsessed.

Blaming Obama for aurora? what the shit are you talking now bitch.

My comment may be lost of deaf ears but, had just one off duty officer or trained carrying citizen been able to stop this guy, it would have been better. Those people were defenseless against this. I'd never really considered carrying off duty to a movie, until now. someone needs to protect the defenseless.

Virginia Tech- 2007. 32 people killed. 17 Wounded- Shooter- Asian Seung-Hui-Cho
Beltway Sniper- 2002- Virginia-DC-Maryland. 2 Blacks Muhammad & Malvo- Killed 10 people shot from a hole in the trunk of a car. Don't even think that whites have the market cornered of this kind of crime.
As you can see by the sick and deranged group on this site that gun control is not even a temporary answer. Mental illness runs thick as you can see below. I own Sara bitches. They follow me like a dog. They can even sleep without dreaming of me. I have them playing hiding go seek when I'm not even here. Whoshit is there other personality. @? , They don't hear you because they cannot debate. They are sick and don't have medication. Me? I'm patient-ask her she will tell you.

To all who think the 2nd Amendment is a farce and should be abolished, I have something for you to think about...First of all, since movies are the topic. Has anyone seen the movie " A Clockwork Orange"? In the movie, a group of glorified psychopaths perform a home invasion on a couple. I will not go into detail of the scene and for all who have not seen the movie can look it up. The point is, If the criminals and psychopaths know that all you have to protect your home is a kitchen knife, then they would be more prone to commit these crimes. (unless you live next door to the police station). Also, think about this if the 2nd amendment is taken away, what's to say that the 1st Amendment should taken away or any rights we have. The best thing to do is pray for all affected and fight for way of life.
