A day after Frank Ocean admitted to the world that he has shared at least one sexual experience with a man, music mogul Russell Simmons has come out in full support of the R&B star.

In a Global Grind entry, the Def Jam Records founder reached out to Ocean and wrote:

Today is a big day for hip-hop. It is a day that will define who we really are. How compassionate will we be? How loving can we be? How inclusive are we?

I am profoundly moved by the courage and honesty of Frank Ocean. Your decision to go public about your sexual orientation gives hope and light to so many young people still living in fear. These types of secrets should not matter anymore, but we know they do, and because of that I decided to write this short statement of support for one of the greatest new artists we have.

His gifts are undeniable. His talent, enormous. His bravery, incredible. His actions this morning will uplift our consciousness and allow us to become better people. Every single one of us is born with peace and tranquility in our heart. Frank just found his.

Frank, we thank you. We support you. We love you.

That pretty much says it all, doesn't it?

PS @ Sparkle Baby: Just remember--there's a percentage of spouse abusers, pedophiles, substance abusers, thieves, murderers or "potential" ones in the military, but it doesn't mean I have to say, "Isn't that wonderful!" Simply because they are in uniform.

@Sparkle Baby No, no...I'm NOT Pally or Jawny...I'm Toni. There's no morphing here! Face it! You're lifestyle isn't accepted nor does it need to be!!! I don't have to make excuses for my views. I'm Midwestern bred though I live in the South. I'm college educated, well-rounded, and sane. I'm not afraid of gays I simply am disgusted by their lifestyle, don't find it normal, and wish you'd all shut up as you've gotten your rights to a degree. What you're after now is total approval and I'm sorry that's something that has to be earned.

Wow..its so sad how many people still live everyday of thier lives fueled by hate and anger. To the sad pitiful idiots that hate gays stop fucking reading the stories

Yeah, they won't ever learn. The funny thing is that he just made the point: nobody cares what he does in his bedroom, or how "hot" his wife is. He's the one spending a large amount of time thinking about gay sex. At the end of the day, it's only worth it to speak up as a reminder that gay people aren't going to go away, and are in fact only going to gain more and more rights. The losing battle is ultimately theirs.

Way to avoid the question pally/jawny. Most likely you morphed into Toni. Basil you're fighting a losing battle.

What is so brave about fucking and licking ass hole? U Americans are so messed up.

I see we have some tolerant people on here! If hes gay, what do you care? Why do people get so pissy about what others do in their bedroom? If he came out as gay, good for him. You say its not couragous to come out? Really? Have you read some of these hate filled rants? No one is saying you deserve a medal for being gay, just that its brave to openly say it knowing there are hate filled people like some of you who will bash him for it

I'm not ready to explode, or particularly angry. I just find it disappointing that people can't clearly express themselves. Anyone can have whatever opinion they want to have. Like I said, that's what makes it great to live in the U.S. However, if you're going to have an opinion, and then make that known, you can't be surprised that other people are going to want to challenge that. The difference lies in that I accept that and even welcome it. People who get pissed off that they get disproven and that someone else has the gall to tell them they're ignorant are the ones behaving childishly. And to answer your question, yes, I am out, and have been for a long time. I don't think it was particularly hard for me, but the fact is that there are people for whom it takes a HUGE amount of bravery and courage, and I salute that.

Sure, why not? I like people in general. It's never mattered to me whether or not someone is gay or straight or whatever. I think it's a little weird that people get so bent out of shape over what other people do in their bedrooms.
