Chick-fil-A Opening in California Draws Protest by Gay Marriage Supporters

by at . Comments

Unlike the cities of Boston and Chicago, Laguna Hills did not place a ban on the opening of Chick-fil-A in its area. But perhaps it now wishes it had.

A new store in that town was greeted this morning by protestors from the Orange County Gay and Lesbian Community Services Center, holding signs and calling for boycotts of the chain whose President has come out against gay marriage.

Chick-fil-A Protests

Aside from simply saying his company was "guilty as charged" when it came to supporting the "biblical definition of marriage," Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy has donated millions to the Marriage & Family Foundation and the Family Research Council.

The issue first came to attention when Ed Helms Tweeted his reaction to that news and said Chick-fil-A had lost him as a customer.

The The Jim Henson Company has also severed ties with the store, who tried to stem the tide of public disdain by releasing a statement that read: "Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena."

So far, as today demonstrated, it has not worked.

Chick-fil-a has donated millions of dollars to organizations that seek to fight against pro-gay marriage bills and organizations aimed at getting LGBT people to feel guilty for the way they were born and pretend to be straight. So yes, they are anti-gay. Its not intolerant of these young people to fight against actual intolerance.

Homosexuals demand tolerance for their lifestyle, but they have absolutely NO tolerance for other people's Constitutional rights to express their opinion. The owner of Chick-fil-A did not discriminate against anyone either in providing service or hiring. If homosexuals want people to respect them ... they are going about it the wrong way. Freedom of speech remains one of our greatest freedoms, which allows us ALL to express our opinions, including the gay demonstrators who most critical thinkers believe are making complete fools of themselves over this specific protest.

I commend and respect Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick-fil-A for his belief on traditional marriage.and family values He meant no harm or disrespect to those who disagree with him. Chick-fil-A is known for its many philanthropic endeavors and its love, care and compassion for all in need. Chick-fil-A has practiced God's command to love our neighbor as ourselves. The backlash from those who disagree with Mr Cathy is most unfortunate - why can't we agree to disagree. To those who wish the Cathy's and Chick-fil-A harm and loss of business, I ask you to forgive whatever injustice you feel has been committed against you. The Cathy's are not your enemies - their life is filled with love. We all need God's love, mercy and grace which speaks to all our needs - to be loved, to be understood, and to be accepted. God bless us all and God bless Chick-fil-A!!!

The Government should not have the power to discriminate against any business based on the owner's religious beliefs. Most people have not even bothered to hear what was said... They only repeat the media translated version. He believes marriage is between one man and one woman. How is that anti-gay?
