Griffith rose to fame on the The Andy Griffith Show and later anchored Mayberry R.F.D. and Matlock. He was also a Grammy Award-winning gospel singer and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George W. Bush in 2005.

The actor is survived by his third wife, Cindi Knight, and his daughter Dixie Nan. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and loved ones.

RIP. Andy had talent, as did the rest of the cast on his show. Not like today where we have families of no-talent whores and old angry housewives making our kids think it is OK to act like a fat ass pig on a reality show.

Andy Taylor & Ben Mattlock are legendary tv characters! Andy, you made them that way! You also was a gospel singer, and I know that you are walking the Streets of Gold! Prayers go out to all loved ones of this special man! He will be sitting on a bench `Waiting on a Woman` now!

This is sad. I grew up with him as Andy Taylor! He will be missed. A real actor, unlike some of the waste there is today!
