Tim Poe Apologizes for "Incomplete Facts" Given on America's Got Talent

by at . Comments

Timothy Poe has come clean. Sort of.

The America's Got Talent contestant who claimed during his Monday night audition that he suffered brain damage as the result of an explosion in Afghanistan - and originally stood by the story in the face of mounting criticism - now admits he had his facts wrong.

"It may not have happened exactly like I said it did," Poe told The New York Post. “I really do not remember a lot of things since the accident."

Poe, an engaged father of two, still says a "blast" went off near his head (and provided the newspaper with documents to prove it) during combat, but admits he boasted about medals he never earned and submitted a photo of another soldier that he attempted to pass off as himself.

Another lie? Or misremembering, as Poe would like us to believe? That he never sang until he left the Middle East.

“I was in a band,” Poe now says. “But it was before the accident. And at the time of AGT, when the judges asked, before I could even think about answering, my words had already came out.”

Friends say Poe is suicidal and members of his family have been threatened. America's Got Talent viewers will see him during Las Vegas auditions next week and to them, as well as all citizens, he has the following to say:

“I would like to take the time to tell the the American people how truly sorry I am that they had to endure the incomplete facts. I understand how they feel.”

Kenichi Ebina Labeled "Biggest Talent in the World" by Howie Mandel

Kenichi Ebina is a serious talent. But is he the greatest talent in all the world? Debate now!

i had a cousin that stuttered his entire life but did not when he sang. Theres a cou try singer mel tillis who stutters but does not when he sings. I was taken in by tims story. I loved his singing voice. My son is a marine and was ovwr in afganastab for almost a year. Tims lies really upset me. He should be ashamed of himself. If he makes it thru to a higher level on the talent show, i will not vote for him. Why should america award him for lieing about something like this

There are more lies in the reponse to this story than were ever told by Tim Poe. "Lied about his military service?" REALLY 1) The Man DID serve in Afghanistan, is this not correct? 2) The man was injured by an act of war. 3) The man does have a brain injury. So where is the lying? Wow all the moral indignation from those so willing to stand in judgement. For me? Anyone who served in the American military is thanked. You are, in my mind, a hero for serving. Two, anyone who served in Iraq or Afghanistan for more than 30 minutes has my thanks. I may not be sure why God put me on the face of this earth, but I know damn well it wasn't to stand in judgement of your 'level' of service. I owe you a debt regardless of how long you served.

I think the guy is a fraud! He played on America's simpathy and he made up his military service. I would'nt give him another chance, he truly need's his head looked at because he's nut's.Thank you to all who served this Country and gave each and every one of us our freedom, and thank you to the families who's loved one's never came home, I can only amagin the pain you will never get over but rest assured America is behind each of you 100% Tim Poe I hope your ashamed of yourself!!!!

@Brad, you cannot be serious. So what, he can sing. Big freakin' deal, vocalists are truly a dime a dozen. The ability to be able to carry a tune is nothing outstanding these days, wannabe singers are clogging up talent shows in every corner of the globe. What is a big deal is that he attempted to big note himself at the expense of true military heroes. If you lie about your military service you are beneath contempt. Anybody who has watched these TV talent shows in the past know that they thrive on "sad sack overcoming the odds" stories, they eat them up. Tim Poe obviously realised this and figured it would win him sympathy from the judges and audience. Despicable, completely despicable. He must be canned from the competition now.

Brad', I guess you are an oboma supporter also!! wake up asshole!!!!!

You are a scumbag. Anyone who lies about military service should die!! You are an asshole!!!!

REMF. . End of story.

AS a veteran who has walked the walk the man has absolutely no honor or integrity, an absolute disgrace to this country and the values it stands for. This is the example we want our young people to emulate? If he truly wants to experience an explosion going off beside his head, sign up for Explosive Ordnance Disposal. I did for 22 years, the man is a disgrace to all who served

If he can sing I say let him stay in. How many other country or rock singers have hurt people, their families, done drugs, had affairs, and so on. Did he make a mistake? Yes, did he deceive america? yes, but so has every president that has held office in the US. I was in the military too and I've seen this before, people want to appear to be a hero to appear larger than life to others, because they aren't and they have issues, but so does everyone. If he can sing, I say let him sing. If he gets rich and famous one day, he can make up for his embellishing by donating millions of dollars to the wounded warrior project.

Mis-remembering huh? As ive always been told..."there's always One" How embarresing how truly embarresing..
