yeeeeaaahh i honestly don't see the point in making him gay. i mean, i have no issue with it whatsoever- i don't even mind the kissing scenes (by god, let love be love, even in a comic book!)- but was it GL's CREATOR that said he was originally gay? or big corporation that said he was gay? tsk tsk. so blatant, yet again, with the shoving down your throat & trying to make a quick million.
Its funny cause every saturday on DC nation, Green lanterns story follows his love affair with his Military test-pilot assistant who's a strong, independent and decisive WOMAN....shit he was almost killed and only thing that saved him from the pink rings power was the love between him and her. Why the hell would you write an entire story that spans over 40 years and now all of a sudden........BAM hes gay....just poor writing and poor reasoning. DC should be ashamed, DId they feel the pressure from disney controlling the market with avengers that they needed some sought of propaganda to get in the spotlight? and this is the best they could come up with?! Sad really....
Honestly who care if hes gay but please do not put in the gay scenes in the next upcoming books or movies. i understand times have changed and i am all for the gay community but c'mon! out of all super heros to come out its the green lantern!!! I would have thought Batman and Robin would be the first.....
With The Green Lantern turning gay, it makes me wonder what's next??? Superman becoming a serial killer??? The Black Vulcan becoming an irresponsible baby daddy??? Beyond idiotic!!!!
even if hes gay is it necessary to draw in the kissing???? comics that i remember didnt have any hetero kissing. you knew archie liked both betty & veronica but you never saw them tongueing each other. i fear that the answer to my question is ------they draw the men kissing to shock civilised people & to sexually excite the perverts. next they will draw the insertion of his penis in that mans anus just to shock us.
Oh but they've introduced gay superheroes before, going back to the 1990s actually. But they never catch on and have no following except for a handful of gay teens. Turning an established star gay is very very deliberate. They know they cant build mainstream following for a new gay character so they turn an existing straight hero with a fanbase, gay. Agenda? Definately.
It's something weird about making old, existing comic book characters gay. Superheroes ae supposed to be brave, strong, more than human, etc., and now we're supposed to believe they've been "in the closet" all this time. Kind of makes a joke of what a superhero is supposed to be. What are/were they afraid of? Being scorned by other superheroes? What would that say about the sensibilities of their fellow superheroes ... bigots who think homosexuality is an aberration? Or were they afraid of what the humans they fight for and protect would think of super homosexuals swooping to the rescue? Rebooting existing characters as gay effectively reboots that entire universe.
Better to introduce new characters as gay superheroes.
After Avengers, I was really syked for Justice League. Avengers was great but Justice League has all the best superheroes - batman, superman, wonder woman, green lantern.
I really wanted to see it. But now I dont think I could see it, if Green Lantern is going to be eyeing Batmans butt or making eyes with Superman. And getting pissy with Wonder Woman for getting all the guys attention. KIss my cash bye bye DC Superheroes.
I just find the cynicism that drove this promotional campaign overwhelming. After all this time, I find it impossible to accept the thoughtless reimaginings of characters older than those making such changes. But then, as will be this case, the changes end up temporary (remember when Superman 'died'? Can you name all the incarnations of Robin?) so no doubt this Green Lantern will be replaced by yet another when DC finds the curiosity-driven sales dry up.
Will they remove Blake Lively from the film or something now that hes gay? Honestly dont wanna see Ryan Renolds kissing a man. I cant handle that honestly
