Hutton Gibson, Father of Mel, Files For Divorce, Alleges Elder Abuse By Teddy Joye Gibson
by Free Britney at .Mel Gibson's dad, Hutton Gibson, cited irreconcilable differences in filing for divorce from Teddy Joye Gibson, but there could be something more sinister at work.
Hutton, who is 93 and suffering from a host of health problems, believes his wife has been abusing him, and Mel has jumped to his dad's aid, according to reports.
Mel and his family have been tending to the patriarch, but Teddy Joye (who is in her 70's) says they are prolonging his suffering and wants them to back off.
She wants to discontinue all medicines to accelerate his death, because she believes that's what Hutton wants. Mel wants Joye out of his dad's house - STAT.
The actor is trying to make sure his dad gets his medication, and feels Joye is guilty of elder abuse by her conduct. He's reportedly willing to go to court over it.
The animosity between Mel's family and Joye is intense, and Hutton personally filed for divorce and even signed the divorce documents in shaky handwriting.
Hutton had no kids with Teddy, whom he married in 2002, but had 11 kids with his first wife, Anne, who is deceased. He has more than 50 grandchildren.
The 93-year-old Hutton is asking for spousal support ... and attorney's fees.

I know Joye Gibson. She is a very good person who went to the Catholic Church regularly - as a matter of fact, she met Hutton in Church. She would never hurt Hutton or anyone. I can't believe the audacity of Hutton's lawsuit. I hope he knows that GOD sees HIM ALSO. Wake up Hutton before you cross those pearly gates.
the jews will get the Gibsons. They own hollywood and they own America.
asking for spousal support has nothing to do with the Gibsons willingness to care for Hutton. As a matter of fact, the article states that this is exactly what they are doing. Perhaps she, too, is suffering from dementia. I agreee that there is little question of this being elder abuse. I wonder though, why witholding meds, isn't any different than attempted murder.
It's in fact because of that stigma and misinformation about Alzheimer's sufferers that they are at higher risks of being abused by their carers, as these think they can get away with it. Elder abuse exists but people just want to thinkG it doesn't or start blaming the abused ones. Suffering from dementia, Alzheimer's or being disabled and frail due to old age is all the more reason to investigate and make sure our loved ones are not being abused.
The Gibsons are right! You should never try to accelerate your spouse's demise. Trying to do so is certainly grounds for divorce. I'm glad Hutton has family to protect him.
