Carrie Underwood Supports Gay Marriage Based on Religious Beliefs

by at . Comments

Carrie Underwood is not alone in supporting gay marriage, but she's one of the few stars to say she does so because of her strong religious beliefs.

The "Jesus, Take the Wheel" singer, a devout Christian, told Britain's The Independent newspaper that for her, marriage equality is rooted in faith.

"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, who you want to marry forever," she said.

"I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love."

Raised Baptist, Carrie recently switched to a non-denominational Christian congregation along with her husband, NHL player Mike Fisher.

You see a lot of religious objections to marriage equality, (like this hate-filled child), but Underwood said her faith inspired her to support gay marriage.

"Above all, God wanted us to love others," the Oklahoma-born CMT award winner said. "It's not about setting rules, or [saying] 'everyone has to be like me.'"

"No, we're all different," the 29-year-old continued. "That's what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other."

"It's not up to me to judge anybody."

She makes a point, doesn't she?

She needs to be pray for. She does not know what a Christian is.Like so many today. Let pray this country will turn back to God instead of away from him.Every country that has turn it's back on God has fallen. I know some don't want to hear this but, it's time we get down to speaking the truth.Thanks..

Christians, you're getting the meaning of love all mixed up. How is it loving to let someone live in a way that is against what God says? And it is against him, for those of you who don't believe so. Take a look at Romans 1:26-27 or 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. God DOES say it's wrong. It's not just my interprietation. Yes, shunning or hurting them because of their choices is wrong. That does go against God's call to love in Christ Jesus. But while we accept them as sinful children of God, just as we were, we cannot accept the choices they choose to make. Homosexuality is a choice, not a way of life. Some may be born with a genetic propensity to anger or drunkenness, or even murder. That doesn't make it right, it just means they'll have to fight harder than others to not be ruled by that particular sin. same with gays and lesbians. You can't call what they're doing marriage, though. Marriage, or matrimony, is before God, and they lifestyle they're choosing is not God-honoring.

Actually, I regret putting lol my previous comment. I just find these articles POINTLESS. It's just Carrie Underwoods opinion. But I know that human beings opinions infulence where our country goes like the laws being passed.. but honestly I'm not gonna waste my time speculating what Carrie Underwood believes about gay marriage. I think we already know..... that God is against gay marriage. Obviously God wants ALL people to be saved and He loves all of us. Does that mean the things that human beings do are always right? Nope. But for me to debate on this stupid article and care... what carrie underwood thinks about gay marriage is pointless.

Wow, everybody lol calm your horses. Actually yeah homosexuality is a sin and I know it corrupts youth. Everybody says that they're in loving relationships.... but actually its a sin in God's eyes and its against human nature to be gay. I feel bad for writing that because I don't want anybody to feel worse about themselves but its the truth. God DOES want homosexuals to come to church. God DOES love homosexuals but He doesn't like what they're doing but we gotta let God work on their hearts. I think instead of focusing so much on gay marriage.. America needs to just return back to God. Lets stop focusing on war, gay marriage, and all that stuff but lets start focusing on God and what God supports instead of what God condemns. In Gods eyes we are all sinenrs YES, and homosexuality is a sin YES and all sins are sins but how about lets ALL return back to God in areas that we need to return back to Him to?

In the last days the "right will be wrong and the wrong will be right." Christians will "persecuted" like they are being done in comments of this article. I'd rather be persecuted than say this is ok. You love the person but you don't condone the sin. The Bible says you can't serve both God and money. Carrie serves money. (It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven.) Good luck everyone on your judgement day. LOL

i disagree with Carrie. i don't think she really understands what a Christian is.Mariana has a great point read her comment!!!!!!!
if god did want us to be homosexuals why didn't he just create men or something? why did he create women?.....
i hope that Carrie will understand someday that what she did is not exactly right, god does love everybody and he does want us to be happy but Carrie made that whole thing up about god being okay with homosexuals, he still loves them but he does not approve of their sin....

If we're going to change the definition of "marriage", then why stop at same-sex? Why not include polyfidelity? Let's not discriminate against people who need multiple partners. Each religion should define "marriage' however it wants, and the state should butt out. For legal purposes, the civil union should take the place of the marriage contract. Sexual orientation matters to the homosexual, and it matters to society as well. However the word "marriage" is defined, a union between two people having opposite orientations will always have a special place in society. If the word "marriage" is redefined, then some other word will come to take its place, because the concept of a heterosexual union is not going to go away..

To be a Christian means you have to judge others? You really think your god judges homosexuals. He loves
The fact that people are loving other people. What is immoral is war and maybe we should spend time
Condeming that. Condem murder and hate but people who want to nurture and love each other they are better
Than many. Signed heterosexual

@ChristianGaySupporter...I believe you are the "hypocrite". You know as well as I do that homosexuality is abominable in God's eyes. It's in the Bible...ever crack that book open??? Christ said "Hate the sin, love the sinner". We are to love but not condone such behavior. You are simply twisting what a real Christian is supposed to believe and live by to make it fit your liberal ideas. What a phoney!
