America's Got Talent to Edit Timothy Poe Footage, Howie Mandell Livid with Fake Soldier

by at . Comments

Heading into this season, America's Got Talent assumed the hiring of Howard Stern would be its most controversial move.

Then Timothy Poe happened.

The contestant is under major fire for lying about his experience in Afghanistan, as Poe claimed during his audition that he suffered a brain injury from an explosion in 2009, but he has no evidence of this occurrence and the photo he provided to AGT of himself in combat has been debunked as someone else.

But Poe did move on to the next round and is scheduled to be featured in Las Vegas next week. What's a reality competition to do?

TMZ says producers will "definitely" edit down footage a bit, but it's unclear whether they will axe Poe altogether.

"I was blown away that I was totally taken in," Howie Mandell says of the act. "I'm really angry with the guy."

What do you think America's Got Talent should do? Should Timothy Poe be disqualified?

I don't have anything invested in America's Got Talent..not watched it all this season...doesn't everyone have a gimmick?? To try to one up each other with their sob stories?? The guy isn't going out for President..it's America's Got Talent. Or in some cases, doesn't!

Ha ha ha see what happens in a society that makes decisions based on emotion. You deserve MORE people like Mr. Poe. WAKE UP!

My husband served in the Air Force for 26 years and deployed to every conflict starting with the first Gulf War. This Timothy Poe is a disgrace to the service and whether he has talent or not is besides the point. He lied to gain the sympathy of the producers, audience, and judges of the show, and should not be allowed to continue. I hope his buddies that had the unfortunate luck to serve with him, have the good sense to never speak to him...ever.

What a bum! I think he needs to man up and apologize. If he does go on the audience will probably tear him to shreds with boos and jeers. I cannot picture Howard Stern or Howie Mandel sitting there in silence. They would put him in his place, I would bet.

If you don't officially kick him off the show, he'll just get booed out off the building anyway. I watch the show. I bought the lie. I was crying because his "story" was so touching. So ya, I'm pretty angry with him. To lie is bad enough but that particular lie? wow...
Classless scumbag.

I did watch the show that night and thought AGT should have just let him audition like everyone else they are the ones that had to play into his disability and VA status. I agre with other people the man has talent just let him sing and let America decide if he should stay or go.... Seattle, WA

I for one don't watch the show, but as a veteran I don't like stories like this however I do believe the show pushes that kind of stuff for ratings. If he was a soldier then he needs to man up by admitting his errors or mistake, or is it he's ashamed of his classification like say a supply clerk.

True story or not, that man is talented. I do not believe that he made up that story. How many of our soldiers have a "story" out there that has never been, so called, documented. Plenty.
