Regardless of whether Zimmerman was defending himself or if Martin was the guilty one, it doesn't matter. What matters is that he was instructed not to pursue him. That is where Zimmerman failed to obey police instruction and broke the law.
And since he pursued him, Castle doctrine still doesn't apply to him because he was pursuing someone. Even Castle doctrine says if the person is fleeing from you and you aren't in direct danger, not to pursue. So Zimmerman brought this on himself, even if at the end he felt fear for his life.
Furthermore, I blame the police for not doing their job the right way the first time and not documenting everything properly or investigating thoroughly. If they did, then half of all this speculation would be put to rest.
Since this happened, I have followed the tragic story. I honestly believe that Trayvon thought he was being mugged. Zimmerman was told NOT TO PERSUE, yet he went forward, GUN in hand. Poor Trayvon must have felt he was fighting for his life, but what can one do unarmed? My opinion has nothing to do with race, it has to do with right and wrong and being held accountable for your actions. I would have fought as hard as I could have, and would hope somehow I injured the person attacking me in order to get away. Zimmerman should stand trial and be held accountable.
All the evidence will be presented in a court of law. If Zimmerman defended himself he can prove that in a court of law and this leaking only certain pieces to help his case means nothing when the trial starts the actual evidence is decided by a jury. George Zimmerman still needs to explain why Trayvon was suspicious, up to no good and on drugs or something in his mind. Trayvon was walking home from the store for heavens sake, why would George find that "suspicious" and start following this boy? If George has injuries all it really proves is these two fought, George started the whole chain of events by pre-judging Trayvon and following him, which would frighten anyone walking home alone in the dark.
Whether this was racial profiling or not, Trayvon shouldn't have been shot. I do believe he attacked George but most likely because he felt George was going to attack him. What on earth did Zimmerman expect chasing after a kid with a gun in hand?!?!?!?!
@John. I feel the same way. I also think they are releasing info on GZ to help his case. His dad was a judge at one point. this whole case is just sad.
Sounds to me like Robert has missed by miles. All evidence has to be brought forward & the trial will hopefully be based on facts not popular opinion!
Sounds to me as if Trayvon Martin was the one 'standing his ground' because he is the (unarmed) person that was being pursued/followed for absolutely no reason. What am I missing here?
