The Voice Recap: Tony Lucca Has 99 Problems (and Xtina IS One)

by at . Comments

The four finalists on the second season of The Voice - Jermaine Paul, Tony Lucca, Chris Mann and Juliet Simms - gave their last performances Monday.

The winner will be announced this evening, based solely on audience votes. No coaches' input. Who will emerge victorious on the singing competition?

Not Tony Lucca, if Christina Aguilera has anything to say about it.

Tensions continued to flare between Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine's protege, a former Mousketeer who Xtina has had it out for all season.

After Tony Lucca offered a bluesy take on Jay-Z's "99 Problems" for his final performance, Xtina criticized him over the hip hop classic's lyrics.

The chorus? "I got 99 problems but a b!tch ain't one."

"Your beautiful wife and daughter and family are here and I just thought, you know, the lyrical connotation was a little derogatory towards women."

"It's called a metaphor," Levine responded, insisting that the line was referring not to women, but "life getting at you, things bringing you down."

"We're not referring to women. We're referring to everything."

Interestingly, it is also widely believed that Jay-Z, in addition to that metaphor, was referring to a literal b!tch - a dog of the drug-sniffing variety - that he narrowly avoided being busted by back in his drug-dealing days.

In any case, Aguilera had the last word.

"This is a real man [who] respects women," she said of her own team member, opera singer Chris Mann, who performed her song "The Voice Within" before closing out his run on The Voice with Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up."

Team Blake's Jermaine Paul chose R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" for his swan song.

Paul, who gained experience as a backup singer for Alicia Keys, gave an impassioned performance that left his mentor, Blake Shelton, "speechless."

"My heart is in my throat right now," Shelton said. "My job on this show ... is to be a coach, but I continue to feel like I learn things from you."

The last performance of the evening came from Juliet Simms, who was battling "throat and health issues," according to coach Cee Lo Green.

Simms tackled Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" to close out the show, after Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" and Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild" (with Green).

Will it be enough? It's all in America's hands now.

What do you think? Was Christina Aguilera off base, or does she have a point? Would she be proud of her own song lyrics and videos at all times?

More importantly, who will win The Voice? Vote below!

Tony and Adam may have 99 problems but Christina ain't one. She just needs to keep her mouth shut and realize no one cares what she thinks about a songs lyrics. Or about how she tries to be the center of attention all the time. Props to Adam and Tony or calling her out on her crap

I would like to see Miranda Lambert sitting in Christinas chair next season. The girl does know what a bitch is, look in the mirror C!

Awww, somebody hurt poor blaize's feelings. Listen up, shankster. You don't get to decide how other people mete out respect. And it seems you are in the minority. Most people, it seems, do believe that how a person dresses does (and should) influence the amount of respect they are awareded. If I come over to your house with my cock out, is that okay with you?

This guy did little more than rip-off Hugo. This wasn't a "cover", it was just bad karaoke.

Xtina has been rude towards Adam since the beginning of the season. What is up with her. She is truly hurting her team. Your boobs are always hanging out of your clothes. How about tucking them in a little if you want respect.

Way to go Xtina if you want to loose..You are agreat singer but you need someone to dress you and teach you some manners..leave Tony alone..constructive comments are ok but yours have been down right mean..I like everyone but JP,I don't think he is a lead singer.I don't know who to vote for because they are all so different..GOOD LUCK ALL>>

I believe Christina should of kept her feelings to herself on the Tony issue. It only made her look bad. Though she is an awesome singer, her appearance doesn't help women with "respect". You have to earn that. I was only concerned about how well the remaining four sang. They were all so good! Hope my favorite wins!
