The Voice Recap: Semifinal Surprises?

by at . Comments

The remaining eight contestants on The Voice – two from each coach's team – gave what could be their final performances during Monday's semifinals.

With the season finale set for next Tuesday night, audience votes plus scores from their respective coaches will determine which four singers advance.

Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green will have a chance to weight their hopefuls' chances tonight. Who will they favor?

From Team Blake, Erin Willett became overwhelmed with emotion after a powerful performance of David Guetta's current radio hit, "Without You."

"I just emotionally kind of got lost," a tearful Erin, who lost her dad during the competition, revealed to MC Carson Daly after the stirring performance.

"I would give anything to have a tenth of the talent that you have," said Shelton, in what may be his highest praise. "Your singing is unbelievable."

Shelton, whose own father passed away in January, added: "But more than that, Erin, I'd give anything to have the strength that you have."

"I know what that song means to you," the country star added. "It means the same thing to me right now also. And you held it together."

Still, it was Team Blake's other semifinalist, Jermaine Paul, whom Shelton described as the "frontrunner" after a heartfelt take on Journey's "Open Arms."

"Jermaine is the guy," Shelton told his protégé. "Every time you get on stage, you separate yourself a little bit more from the rest of the pack."

Adam Levine begged to differ.

He told Team Cee Lo's Juliet Simms, who closed out the night with James Brown's "It's a Man's Man's Man's World," simply "You're the one to beat."

Aguilera, on the other hand, had high praise for Team Adam's Katrina Parker. "I just encourage Adam to really look at you," she told Parker.

Her version of The Fugees' "Killing Me Softly" will guarantee that.

"I know that probably the obvious, predictable choice for Adam would be to be swayed towards [his other finalist, Tony Lucca]," she said.

"But I'm telling you, take a look at Katrina Parker because she's a star."

Aguilera, who donned a tiara for the evening for some reason, really does not favor her one-time fellow Mousketeer Lucca for some reason.

The singer was also enthusiastic about her own protégés, Chris Mann and Lindsay Pavao, of course. It's anyone's guess who she'll pick.

America's votes and the coaches' points will be awarded tonight, narrowing The Voice field to four. Who do you think will make the finals?

Christina needs to be fired. She has not been professional.. Even in her duet with Chris she sang over him. It was supposed to be about him. That is pitiful. I have never watched reality shows and this is mostly a class act. If she is a coach next season I doubt I will watch. Insults my intelligence being exposed to her and her weird boobs .
Juliett should not have been with the three guys. They all have great voices. She, NOT. Can't stand her.

The talent is awesome this year what i dislike is when the panel of judges refer to them you murdered it. I quit watching. They need to choose better choice of words.

I'm in Love With Adam Levine.. Never Knew the lead singer of Maroon 5, Which all their Songs are Awesome, Was Soo HOT! :) Go Linsay You Got this I've been a Fan since Day 1! I love Lindsay!!!

@Just me: It's not about being insecure or self-serving. Christina Aguilera is a pop star and she loves to perform. She has a natural command of the stage.

Like most competitions, you have those that really stand out, and those that just don't. My real problem with 'voice' is Christina. Is she so insecure and self-serving that every performance has to be about her? Seems that way to me.

Usually this type of show is not my cup of tea but this is so well done and the singers are all top notch this year. How could you pick one when they all have extraordinary talent? I've cried more than once from the beauty of this music.

The Voice needs to let voters decide who stays and who goes in later rounds. I noticed after the episode with the special judges choice elimination, the ratings took a hit.
Same thing with American Idol and Dancing with the Stars.
What does everyone else think?

Chris Mann and Juliet Simms are my 2 favorites.

Hope CeeLo sticks with Juliet she is amazing. As for Idol please just boring no talent competitors on that show .

If u all think its so bad keep ur negitive comments to yourself and stop watchin it...

Christina Aguilera Quotes

It's kind of hilarious! I've never fit into an E-cup before. I look at my husband and go, 'Guess what size this bra is?' And when I tell him, he's just amazed. We keep the tags that prove it, to look back for memory's sake!

Oh, my God, candy! I had a huge craving for candy toward the end of the pregnancy, from Starbursts to Skittles. I actually took a picture of myself with my big belly in a little lingerie top, surrounded by bowls of the candy I like
