Mitchell Guist, Swamp People Star, Dies from Boat Fall

by at . Comments

Mitchell Guist, one of the stars of Swamp People on the History Channel, died this morning from injuries suffered during a fall off his boat.

Authorities tell the accident occurred around 9 a.m. along the Belle River in Louisiana.

Attempts to perform CPR on Mitchell - who appeared on Swamp People along with his brother, Glenn, and hunted alligators on the program - were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital not long after the boat returned to shore.

No reason for the accident or cause of death has been reported, though onlookers say Guist appeared to suffer a seizure.

"We are extremely saddened to report that our friend and beloved member of the Swamp People family, Mitchell Guist, has passed away earlier today. Mitchell passed on the swamp, doing what he loved," a rep for the History Channel said in a statement.

Im so very sorry, my family and all the rest will pray for his soul, and for God to watch over Glenn, What a great bunch of human beings, and wonderful show. This indeed is a very sad day, God bless you all and the south.

what a very sad thing to happen RIP you will be missed

R.I.P. Mitchell. my thoughts are with Glenn. i will be preparing a special cajun meal of fried fish and jambalaya in honor of such a great man. it's nice to know there are still people like this in the world who aren't concerned with the fads and trends of the world and just live life the way it was supposed to be lived. most of the world only recently knew him. wish we could have known him longer.

i am very sad to hear about the loss of mitch he and his brother glenn are one of my favorite people on the show my heart goes out to glenn and his family i think that america has addopted them as family and it is sad to see him go

Wow, what a bummer. I really enjoyed watching these two and their escapades in the bayou. They seemed so happy together, I hope Glenn can carry on. I know it will take him a long time to accept Mitchell's loss. The show won't be the same without him.

This is very sad news. My sympathies to the surviving family.
May he R.I.P.

Prayers for the family. My family got to meet these brothers through the TV show and have been one of our favorites to watch. Rest in peace Mitgchell. You guys are one of a kind and it has been a pleasure getting to see yall way of life down here in the swamps.......Jessica Guidroz, Arnaudville,La
