Manny Pacquiao on Obama Gay Marriage Stance: An Immoral Abomination

by at . Comments

Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is pointedly criticizing President Barack Obama's recent endorsement of gay marriage, calling it offensive to his religion.

In an interview, the religious Pacquiao said that Obama's view was nothing more than a direct attack on the morals of society and the will of God.

"God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other," Manny Pacquiao said.

"It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of old," he added, citing the Bible.

He described same-sex marriage as an "abomination" and went on to say that America should be the model of morality for other countries to emulate.

Recently voted Forbes' fourth most influential athlete, the World Boxing Organization welterweight champion is regarded by many as the best pound-for-pound boxer on the planet, and already has a burgeoning career out of the ring.

He is a member of the Philippines legislature, hosts a weekly TV game show and has his own vegetable business. Manny Pacquiao also hopes to become a leading Christian evangelist after having a religious "awakening."

Last week, Obama became the first U.S. president to publicly back gay marriage.

Many politicians, pundits and stars have weighed in - Jay-Z praised Obama Monday, while Bristol Palin ripped him last week - but members of the sporting community have been largely silent until Pacquiao's condemnation.

Your take: Same-sex marriage ...

Heather, Don't pick and choose and make God to your own convince, that is Gods Law it is very clear! I choose Gods law over your morals or beliefs or whatever the trend is :)

What a bunch of B.S. here! Look Obama has done his thing before with numerous men such as Larry Sinclair etc. If he chooses that life style or to endorse it then who really cares?

Good for Manny! We need to get more diverse opinions like his out there. There needs to be a real dialogue. It's not a settle "done deal" regarding this same sex issue especially when the majority of US states have said "NO" to the proposition! What's laughable is that Obama went on The View and said he wanted to bring down the Defense of Marriage Act..when pressed if he would be leading the charge personally? He said, "Well, Congress knows how I feel about it." Yeah, guess we all know how he FEELS about it? But, he's not going to be a real advocate for gays. Obama is not going to offer the strong leadership to promote hope and change for the gays. He's in pandering mode and that's it. You gays are again gettin' taken for a ride!

It is always funny to read comments like this... "Actually, homosexuality exists in most species in the natural world. It has been proven." How many other behaviors are observed in animals that we DON'T emulate. Just because ANIMALS do something gross, doesn't mean it is a natural thing to do. If so, I want to see some people emulating dogs and eating some delicious puke and crap.

no more Obamanation!!! Proverbs 14:34 (New King James Version) Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a reproach to any people. Jesus Christ Fulfills the Law:
17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Actually, homosexuality exists in most species in the natural world. It has been proven.

Keep religion out of the politics. His religious belief offends my beliefs. It goes both ways here. Don't use your God to justify your hate. Signed,

Its an obomination that people pick and choose what parts of the Bible they like and use them to prove their point. Dont use God and the Bible as an excuse for prejudice. It offends MY morals.
