American Idol Final 4 Review: California, There They Went!

Note to American Idol: Who the heck is picking the weekly themes this season?!?

With the assignments growing more and more random, last night the final four finalists - Phillip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet and Jessica Sanchez - were tasked with singing on track by a California native band or artist; and one they wish they had written themselves.

Ummm... okay. Let's rundown the first set of performances and then let's vote on our favorite, shall we?

Phillip Phillips took on CCR and asked viewers one simply question: "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" Well, have you?!?

Hollie Cavanagh went on a Journey via one of this group's all-time classics. Did she do justice to "Faithfully?"

We only have the audio for Joshua Ledet and his take on "You Raise Me Up," but it's easy enough to hear this man's talent, isn't it?

Jessica Sanchez wrapped up this portion of the evening with Etta James "Steal Away." What do you think of the cover?

    I don't think there has ever been a top 5,4,now 3 with such a weak voice. PPhillips has maybe a half octave range and is often off pitch but everyone says has full of soul?????? It is a singing comp.....

    those neck moves and faces phillip makes shows soul..something most of the rest dont have! Shows he is into the song and connecting with everyone. He damn sure baths, those votes hes getting from what yall say is teenage girls, is because of his looks, that look he has of not shaving, so its obviously working for him huh? Itll be him and jessica in the end, idk why hollie is even there anymore. josh did james brown amazing, but otherwise he needs to be singing in his church, your not gonna seemany of his cds selling

    To bonnie: first of all, Joe Cocker was also a freak of nature, so PP is just like him WEIRD....this dude PP looks like he hasn't taken a shower in weeks, and weird facial expressions IS NOT TALENT HONEY>.....so as the saying goes: TO EACH HIS OWN>>>>DOUBT IT IF YOUR SHINING START WEIRDO PP WILL WIN>>>>>JESSICA AND JOSHUA ARE THE ONES WITH THE REAL TALENT>>>>btw, when was the last time you had your hearing checked?????????? lol lol lol lol
