Chris Brown Under Fire For Dog-Breeding Business

by at . Comments

Must be Friday. Chris Brown is stirring up controversy once again, but no pop singers or plate glass windows were bashed beyond recognition this time.

This time, he's not in trouble with the law though. It's just his apparent side business breeding dogs and selling them for profit that has people riled up.

The R&B superstar is drawing heat from animal-rights activists, obviously, who want him instead to promote adoptions of animals from shelters.

Chris Brown, Dog

On Monday, Brown's manager-mother, Joyce Hawkins, posted a link on her Twitter to CB Breeds, a website featuring this cute photo of her son and a pup.

CB Breeds is offering seven fully vaccinated American pit bull terrier pups for $1,000 a piece. Needless to say, the alleged puppy mill drew howls of protest.

While CB is a perfectly legitimate enterprise, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was quick to issue a statement condemning him:

"This is a moneymaking scheme, and Brown will count the suckers who fall for it as he counts the money on the way to the bank," PETA said.

"There is no such thing as a responsible breeder while wonderful dogs are being put down in animal shelters across the country for lack of a good home."

"Shelters will count the bodies in the barrel. As Justin Bieber, Kellan Lutz and [other responsible celebrities] always say, "Adopt, never buy."

The Los Angeles chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, meanwhile, decried what it called his "backyard breeding."

Said spcaLA president Madeline Bernstein:

"There is no reason to breed and produce more pit bull puppies when there are pit bull puppies waiting for homes in every shelter in America."

"Furthermore, as some of these dogs suffer from and are victims of their owner's misuse, they can be even harder to place."

A publicist for the singer denied to E! News that Chris Brown is breeding, insisting that the puppies were part of a litter birthed by his family's dogs back home in Virginia and were being sold to make sure they get good homes.

"He loves animals, especially dogs," said the rep.

Chris recently posed with a puppy belonging to GF Karrueche Tran, for what that's worth. Which is pretty much nothing, we admit. Sorry.

Sale/ selling, does it even matter? Do me and other's a favor, go hide back under fucking rock. Did I spell that right? I mean damn, people always have something to say about a person spelling. We'll kiss my ass, how about that!

i worked in a mill at a young age because i loved animals and what those animals live like is horrifying. They are babies taken from their mothers living in small cages with no beds and orange water. The one i worked at always had 100 puppies in stock & sold them for 2-800 dollars and paid 5 dollars an hour. I wondered back into a garage in the back of the building one cold day and saw a golden retriever mother laying on the cold hard floor with her babies, alone and cold. This place has been in business for like 100 years. They probably put down dogs that never made it out. They never had a chance to live life freely because $$$$$$$...

I hate all these organizations (PETA, GLAAD, etcs) that target celebrities or any one with a recognizable face in the media to do their parts in what they say and what they do. Americans are the most egotistical when it comes to their rights, patriotism, independence, etc. Yet, they have all these organizations telling them what they can and cannot do and say. I say F**k that, people have the choice to adopt or buy. It's like buying a new car or used car. People have the choice of buying a new dog from a breeder, it's not wrong to think about ourselves and not feel guilty. Same goes with wearing fur, eating, etc. I think all these organizations is just another form of cult, telling you what to do and what to say like puppets.

ChrisLover.... Maybe you should get off the internet (and chris browns sac) and go back to school. First, learn what a puppy mill is and refute the fact that there are plenty of pits in shelters that need homes. Second, learn that he is not going to "sale" them, he is going to SELL them. Also PETA has an issue with someone who is not promoting the responsible procurement of a family pet. I'm also willing to bet that they, just like ANY intelligent person, know that someone who beats people usually does not have a problem beating animals too. Those are just a few of the issues with Douchebag Brown selling pit bulls.

If it ain't one thing it's another.chris isnt doing anything wrong he breeding puppies so what

I'm still trying to figure out why can't Chris Brown breed his own pitbull and sale the pits? Why do the PETA have an issue with Chris trying to do the right thing? At least he is treating the dogs well and giving them the right care. So what's the problem with Chris saleing the pitbulls? I have a pure breed pomeranian dog and she have cost me 1,400. So hell yeah, I am going to breed her. Would that be a problem too?

I don't like Chris Brown morally. I like some of his music. Take Chris Brown's name out of this and your left with no story. He has every right to sell pure breed pitbulls. A person down the road is doing the same. Chris Brown has the means to feed these puppies AND is donating the money. As much as you want to hate the guy for abusing Ri Ri, you can't hold it against him forever.

Dear CB fans, please stop to think about puppy mills for a second. while they're not illegal there are a lot of morally questionable aspects to them, which is why they're closely monitored by authorities in many states. I sure hope his mill will be monitored, and there should be no exceptions just because he is a celebrity.

@texasgirl, why can't Chris Brown sale his own pitbulls? Is it because of the mistake that Chris have made almost 4yrs ago. Why are you so bitter? Do you have any clue what chris is donating that money for?

Looks like Team Breezy members are trying to put together a sentence on here (comments 1 & 3) Sadly, they failed! On a similar note... Chris Brown was sentenced to five years probation for beating the crap out of Rihanna!
