Bobby Brown on Whitney Houston Death: Not My Fault!

by at . Comments

Bobby Brown taped an interview with Matt Lauer this morning - for segments on The Today Show that will run Wednesday and Thursday - and made it a priority to defend himself against accusations that his hard-partying lifestyle played a role in the tragic death of Whitney Houston.

"I didn't get high before I met Whitney," Brown says, seemingly blaming HER for HIS problems, although clarifying that he did smoke "weed" and drink prior to their relationship.

But Brown emphasized that he wasn't "the one that got Whitney on drugs at all" and that he feels "terrible" folks think otherwise.

Bobby Brown on Today

Because, really people, the important thing here is how Bobby Brown feels.

Houston and Brown were married from 1992 to 2007 and are the parents of a daughter, Bobbi Kristina. The singer told Lauer that their one year of filming Being Bobby Brown had a profound affect on their recreational drug use.

"The reality show gave us a wakeup," he says. "We [were] able to see that our drug use had affected our relationship, had affected the love that we felt for each other."

When did Bobby last see Whitney? About a week prior to her passing. He said she "looked really well" at the time.

Brown - who pleaded out a DUI arrest just this week in order to avoid jail time - said he was shocked and "hurt" when he learned Houston died with cocaine in her system. At the end of the day...

"I love that woman with everything that I am. And I believe she loved me the same way. We wouldn't have been able to make the most beautiful girl in the world - without love. And that's the truth."

I do NOT think Bobby Brown is to blame for WH's drug use &/or death. Drugging was her choice & she became addicted. She did it to herself.

When I read these comments and thought about Whitney's death, I found Heath Ledger, Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson also came to mind. Together, they inspired this blog:

I feel the same way, Don't get me wrong I loved Whitney Houston... As did many people. But I sure do not blame Bobby Brown for her death, He did not force her to do the drugs or continue to do the drugs after they broke up, as you all know they were no longer togerher and she died, so maybe her was good for her in the long run he kept her alive for one... Well I use to hate when I was younger myself and all the mothers who thought there children did no wrong and blamed everyone else for there action, it was never there fault if they got caught, it was because they were hanging out with this 1 or that 1 ???? I told my mother I do what I want my friends don't twist my arm Im my own person.. So that that!!!!!

and if he was that good of a father why is his daughter walking in the same footsteps why isnt he there to guide her away from it? Hes just a sorry ass who dont give two shits!

He was the infulance of her doings she was a hit and he was a nothing so he figured he would get some of that money he did they they blew it on drugs her mother was right .....hes a jigalow!

Several ppl close to Whitney have said that she used drugs before she met BB. On their reality show BB def seemed like the more sane of the two. To blame is irresponsible imo. Drug addiction killed Whitney Houston and will continue to do so daily. So sad. Don't start. Get help if you need to. It's unspeakably sad what the family goes through before, during and after drug addiction.

Why is he being blamed for HER CHOICE!? Ummm...did he hold a gun to her head and force her to do drugs? No, she put the shit in her system all on her own. I am so sick of people blaming others for their actions! I don't give a damn what kind of shit is happening in your life, you & only you control what you put in your body or how you behave.

Really... if the roles were reversed would people blame her for his drug abuse? No. Because she's a woman, she is automatically a victim?!
