I honestly don't think 10 years in prison is really necessary. Hearing Dharun's side of the story helped clear lots of questions and revealed new information. He did stupid and idiotic things but the verdict certainly needs to be lightened. Also i watched the trial on my television with my kids and the judge did not even allow Dharun to finish his case and present his side of the story. There should be an appeal involved in this case. This is ridiculous
He may have felt he would get acceptance among his peers and when that didnt happend and he was singled out for ridicule, that was the final straw. His parents didnt blow up his world and try to humiliate him like those college kids did. He may have felt he could slowly work up to coming out and then he was blown out of the water. If his parents reaction was enough to make him kill himself, he would have prob done it already. This was based on what happened at school.
If Tyler's mother had accepted her son's sexual orientation and not "basically rejected him" (in Tyler's own words), I doubt we would be discussing the tragedy. Her mother is affiliated to an evangelical mega-church.
Everyone wants to blame Dharun for Tyler's death; as if two second peek meant so much to Tyler than the rejection of his mother. I feel really sad for the Clementi's but for them to say that "We have become aware ..." is too late too little. They want Dharun to be convicted; who will hold them responsible?
