Miley Cyrus Takes Twitter Heat for Perceived Jesus Diss

by at . Comments

This is one of the more obscure Twitter wars in recent memory.

A week after lashing out for receiving death threats on the social network, Miley Cyrus is once again at the center of a controversy - and it all has to do with theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss.

The singer/actress posted the above photo of Krauss on her account last night, including a passage that partly reads:

You are all stardust. You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements (carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, all the things that matter for evolution) weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in stars. So forget Jesus. Stars died so you can live.

Many followers proceeded to take exception to the whole "forget Jesus" thing, with one follower writing to Miley: "You seriously believe that crap? It’s so ridiculously stupid. Go to hell."

There's someone who clearly follows the teachings of Jesus well, huh?

This isn't the first time Cyrus has upset her Christian followers. The young star is an outspoken advocate of gay marriage, penning an op-ed on the topic last month and receiving a lot of criticism for her views.

Religion is based on someone having faith in something, science is based on facts. People are allowed to believe in whatever they want. We do live in America. Get over yourself people. She is a singer and a person. You can like her music and not believe the same as her when it comes to religion. It amazes me how judgemental those who are "religious" are. Total hipocrates.

some christians who are taught supposedly to tolerate those who are different are pretty much to complain when someone disagrees with them. i am a christian, i believe in God, in Jesus, but i also sometimes think that maybe there was a basic evolution that God maybe started first and worked up to man. who knows for sure. i also believe in equality for g,b,l,t...they are made in the image of God, something went haywire in the system, but they are people. what about those who are physically or mentally handicapped, are they supposed to be shipped somewhere so no one see them or thinks of them. the handicapped people will tolerate, but not the homosexuals....what is the difference, grow up people, it is the 21st century....people are people not matter what. God made us all, normal, handicapped, doesn't matter. anyone who thinks other wise is not a very good christian and is just as prejudiced and bigoted as anyone who lives in a glass house!

Don't mix religion and science you baboons! Its funny how persecution begins with those lack of knowledge

honestly, who gives a crap about her beliefs. i am a christian, specifically a roman catholic. but i believe that faith is a gift, and some people have yet to receive it. for some people it takes time..and some never receive it. but that is part of our individuality! if this is what she wants to believe, who are we to tell her "no"?? i think that no matter what, whether you're christian, atheist, buddhist, hindu, etc.. we all need to accept each other for who we are as individuals. and like i said, who really cares if she isn't a firm believer in God? that is her life, not yours. i mean, honestly...does it really effect your lifestyle? are her religious beliefs keeping you from living your life the way you want to live it? i seriously doubt it.

The world was a better place when people still believed in God and there were still family values in the home and school, but non-believers have made sure that we can't say the Pledge of Allegiance in school anymore or mention God because it might offend somebody, they took the ten commandments of of certain government buildings then people wonder why all the politicians are liars and crooks but the big thing is the Constitution was founded on beliefs in God's name and I notice "these people" who are offended by God's name have no problem whatsoever spending the money that is clearly stamped: "In God We Trust!" So Miley I hope that someday you come to your senses and ask God for forgiveness. I know where I'm going when I die, do you?

I believe in God and that it created everything but I do not believe in Jesus or organized religion. Sooooo, where does that leave me? I'm sorry Kacey but you are 17, immature and sheltered. Leave the nest for the real world, read something other than what your parents and teachers tell you to read. Educate yourself and come to your own conclusion, do not just jump on the religion bandwagon like so many other sheep.

i dont think (my own opinion) that she is completey wrong or right. she is young so she is still exploring what life is. i am a christian myself and i still get curious about other theories of evolution. but it doesnt mean im turning my back on god. im just learning. she may have crossed the line saying that last little bit but shes not a bad person for being curious. and to those who are saying things like "typical christians blah blah blah" we are taught to not judge the next person. and to say we are all hypocrits is ridiculous. you may have met a few people that are like that but it doesnt mean its because they are christian. thatsjust people in general. ignorence.

I'm not a Miley fan in any way, shape, or form, but I admire her for staying true to her beliefs regardless of others trying to shove their beliefs in her face. She has a right, as an American, to believe whatever she wants and no one has the right to try to make her believe otherwise. I believe in the 'big bang' theory too, but I also believe that something had to create all those things in order for it to happen. What or who created it, is none of my business. Whom or whatever it is, I love dearly. People who judge others because of their religous choices are shallow and need to go and reread their beloved books again.

Well said, Kacey. It truly is a shame.

I am a firm Christian believer. At 17 years old I know that my beliefs can lead to much pressure and persecution but I don't care. Miley is nothing more than another hypocrite trying to gain more attention this way. There are many words that I wish to say right now but as wrong as it is all I have to say about it is that I hope that one day she will see what she has done and will ask God for forgiveness on her behalf. God created the heavens and the earth and all things that they consist of. There is no complete valid proof. Mostly faith. And Miley Cyrus obviously does not have that faith. God bless her soul and allow her to see the mistake that she has made. If she does not want to see it that way at least allow her to see how upset she has made many of her fans. It's such a shame....
