Jennifer Lawrence Compares Katniss Everdeen to... Kim Kardashian?!?

by at . Comments

On March 23, Jennifer Lawrence will bring one of the most intriguing, tough-minded, well-written young heroines to the big screen in The Hunger Games.

So you can imagine our surprise when the actress, in a featured interview with this month's Parade, compared Katniss Everdeen to one of the least interesting, most wooden and rarely-dressed individuals out there, Kim Kardashian.

Why do you think so many people relate to the books, the magazine asked the rising star? Replied Lawrence:

“I was watching the Kardashian girl getting divorced, and that’s a tragedy for anyone. But they’re using it for entertainment, and we’re watching it. The books hold up a terrible kind of mirror: This is what our society could be like if we became desensitized to trauma and to each other’s pain.”

Hear that, people?!? Continue to tune in to E! every week on Sunday nights and we'll soon be sending our teenagers out to kill each other all in the name of sport! Just something to consider.

Wow. This article... made me puke a little in my mouth. Because what it's doing is exactly the point that Miss Lawrence is trying to make. Twisting people's words and feeding it to a mass audience for entertainment.

Back to high school? That's extremely rude. Jennifer was just talking about how in today's society, many people find entertainment watching reality shows where people get hurt and they go through the ups and downs of life. There are many other examples, yes, but since Kim just went through a breakup or whatever it was Jen was using her as an example. She was just showing how in our world, we are on the path to Panem, and that's what makes the book intriguing. Maybe you shouldn't be so critical and judgmental.

And, by the way, this article is terrible. They twisted her words just as they do everyone else's. All she was saying is that the Capitol resembles today's society and Kim Kardashian's popularity is the perfect example. Jennifer Lawrencce will make a great Katniss.

I think it was a brilliant comparison. Kim always puts on a show for the cameras, isn't that exactly what Katniss did? I mean Katniss did have her reasons as we all know. But didn't Collins suggest that we Americans are the Capitol citizens? We do eat romance up like the Capitol doesall throughout the series. In Mockingjay, it is mentioned that their ancestors left them a broken planet. The war between the Capitol and 13 resembles the Cold War. In Mockingjay, the Romans are mentioned. Collins implies that we are those citizens who traded power for bread and circuses.

I'm sorry but even though the hunger games was a good book it was a horrible idea. Really, it's sick! And mocking jay was just Katniss going insane and trying to commit suicide.

Shes 21...Jenniffer is. Why the frap would she go back to high school? But kim kardashian? Really? Even putting kim kardashians name anywhere near The Hunger Games makes me want to scream. I mean The Hunger Games is too perfect to be ruined by a fame whure attention craving untalented dumbash kartrashian.

Wv peach

Of the myriad of people she could have referenced....and she cites the empty-headed dolt Kim Kardashian!! Young lady, please open your mind to better things.

Jennifer looks so good on this cover!

Another cerebrally-challenged young actress. Go back to high school!!
