Whitney Houston Family: Devastated Over National Enquirer Photo

by at . Comments

The family of Whitney Houston is reacting to The National Enquirer posting a photo of that singer's corpse as you might expect: with outrage and heartbreak.

TMZ cites sources who say Whitney's mother, Cissy, is especially distraught over the tabloid actually taking this measure, but there are no plans to open any kind of investigation into the source of this photo, which the newspaper has the nerve to refer to as "beautiful."

Meanwhile, Carolyn Whigham, owner of the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, tells The Daily News that neither she nor her staff had anything to do with the image or its leak.

"We did not take that photo. We did not sell the photo. We would never do something like that," she said to the newspaper. "Whitney was a friend. I’m the one who flew to Los Angeles and got Whitney from the coroner’s office. I did everything to protect her.”

The photo is intrusive and deeply offensive to the sensibilities of Ms Houston's family. How would we as ordinary citizens feel if images of this kind were published of our loved ones without permission? This is a deeply seedy and cynical exercise and the prime motive is to make money. Miss Houston's family had every right to their privacy at what amounts to a deeply distressing time in their lives.

I'm happy the photo was taken and published. We all loved whitney for who she was therefore we have the right to share her last photo. Its selfish to cut fans in the name of privacy. Allow us to mourn our dead and cry out in tears for we all love her the same. I appreciate the thought and decision of whoever took the photo thanks you did a good act. We deserved to say goodbye to our icon. Rest in the Holy Ghost and in Jesus Christ. May God keep you in his light forever.

i honestly dont think its such a big deal ... the only wrong i see here is that whoever took the picture had no permission but in reality wheather she was famous or not whitney is still human & people die every day ! if it were a picture of anyone else people wouldnt be so disturbed about it ! R.I.P NIPPY cant believe you're gone but your legacy lives on

If the family wanted a private service that's what they should have gotten. I lost my step daughter and two days after her death her pictures showed up on Facebook. The saddest thong about it was the picture of her in the hospital were it came from we don't know but that hurting thing. So I understand Mama Houston. Let her child rest in peace.

My heart and prayers goes out to the whitney houston family. Whitney (the voice) queen of pop will never be forgotten. Let her rest in peace. She is only human all the drama needs to stop. Nobody knows what she was going through during and after. Yes there are people out there who will try to make a buck out of this shame on you. Everyone remember. RIP whitney

People should let the Houston family mourn in peace. True Whitney was famous but she was still a human being with family and friends that loved her for her not Whitney the super star. Leave thn alone let her Rest In Peace.
