Samuel L. Jackson Voted For Obama "Because He's Black"

Samuel L. Jackson is making news for some candid remarks about President Barack Obama and why he supported him in 2008. What did the actor say exactly?

That he pulled the lever for Obama because of his race.

In an interview with Ebony, Jackson said, "I voted for Barack because he's black. 'Cuz that's why other folks vote for other people, because they look like them ... That's American politics, pure and simple. [Obama's] message didn't mean [bleep] to me."

Jackson then went on to drop the n-word many times discussing Obama, telling the magazine, "When it comes down to it, they wouldn't have elected a [bleep]."

"Because ... what's a [bleep]? A [bleep] is scary. Obama ain't scary at all. [Bleeps] don't have beers at the White House. [Bleeps] don't let some white dude, while you in the middle of a speech, call [him] a liar," he said, referring to Joe Wilson's famous outburst.

"A [bleep] would've stopped right there and said, ‘Who the f--k said that?' I hope Obama gets scary in the next four years, 'cuz he ain't gotta worry about getting re-elected."

There you go. The only thing missing is a Snakes on a Plane reference.

Provocative word choice aside, Jackson's point appears to be that some people vote based on race, and that Obama won because while he is black, he does not fit negative African-American stereotypes. For more on the subject, see Rock, Chris.

I voted for President Obama because of his vision, his passion for the underdog and he had some of the same beliefs I do. He just happened to be a black man. I would never vote for someone just because of their color. Samuel L. Jackson, you do not speak for me.

@ROBODON- Well said and so am I and so should everyone else! That shit has run its course.

Samuel Jackson is an actor, who got lucky. What does he know about the way that I vote? He claims that we vote for people who looks like us.......... well, I'm a younger looking Kathy Bates and there is yet to be a candidate who resembles her, so I wonder if he knows who I voted for??? Samuel Jackson is an over-opiniated actor and should stick to putting his feet up when he's not filming.

No matter what race you are, no one cares how much you know until the know how much you care. But when someone uses the race card I am done with them forever.

And they say that Blacks can't be racist only Whites. Well there you have it Mr Samuel L Jackson aka Mr. Ignorant Fool, you proof enough. I didn't vote for Obama because of his Marxist Ideology, not because he is Half-White, oh yea he is not full Black, maybe only 1/4 and its his White Family that raised him and sacrifice for his higher education and achievements. Mr. 'Ignorant Racist Fool' Jackson, Obama wouldn't have a prayer to win Dog Catcher, let alone President if not for the vast majority vote of Non-Blacks. I am not Black but I voted for a 100% Grade 'A' Black Man Mr. Alan Keyes, in 1992 for President of our country because of his Constitutional stance, not because of his skin. Simple-minds like you Jackson is the reason we are divisive and failing as a society. Your wealth comes because of the White audience pays the high ticket prices to see your talent as an Actor and you are very good at it. Stick to that and shut-up!

Whomever votes Obama to stay in the white house is just ignorant. He has only brought us down, unless of course you are on welfare. You would chose to keep him in because you wouldn't want a distruption in your checks.

I hope Mr. Obama gets re-elected. He is trying to do good. He gets thwarted by an angry congress at every turn. (who, IMO, legislate in the interests of massive corporations, not the people they represent. Again, my opinion) IMO, this Boener-led Congress is the problem. Obama cares about the average, middle-class person & I voted for him (and will again) not because of his skin color; he could be black, white, bi-racial-which he is, red, yellow, blue or plaid.

It really is sad to say it..but everyone that voted for him here couldn't tell me any reason besides saying "it is because he is black, we need a black president to change it up" his race does not show how good he can run a country..but I feel that year no one paid enough attention to what they were saying and more of what color they were..they also all said "well as soon as we can vote a woman in we will since now we have had a black person it would be even better to have a black woman for president." sad sad.

Samuel L. finally got an interview with Ebony Magazine. He said what he felt, and he said what he wanted to say. Isn't that the same that most of *us do when we get the chance to voice our opinions on this message board. We may Not be answering to an interview, but agreements or Not, we all are expressing what we want to say.Samuel L.
