Rainn Wilson Sorry For Twitter Date-Rape Joke
by Free Britney at .Rainn Wilson took to Twitter to apologize after an admittedly "poorly conceived" joke about getting date raped to Led Zeppelin yielded some online criticism.
The man behind so many great Office quotes, whose Twitter is usually a must-read, wasted no time in realizing the error of his tweet-first, think-later ways.
"Apparently my poorly conceived date-rape tweet upset a lot of folks," he wrote this morning. "Not a good topic to joke about. Sorry & won't do that again."
Starting late Monday, and leaking into the early hours of today, a minor uproar mounted against the comedic actor's seemingly out of character comment.
What was the offending Tweet-missive? "If I were ever date raped I would want it to be to 'Whole Lotta Love' by Led Zeppelin," the 46-year-old wrote.
Not hard to see how that didn't go over well. However, Rainn has since deleted the Tweet, replacing it with his apology, so ... lesson learned, we're guessing.
Should Wilson have apologized?

I know, I know it was just a joke but there is nothing funny about joking about rape and I liked that song now I can't listen to it at all...thanks for that, Rainn
Regarding his jokes... I guess..... when it rainns it poors.
At least he apologized quickly and did not make any excuses for himself. Very admirable - and forgiven.
Perhaps he meant it as a joke, but there is nothing remotely funny about rape. Society is now so permissive that nothing is off limits; do not assume we are all drinking the kool-aid.
It was just a joke! Get over it people don't act like you don't joke around with your friends over topics like that or worse. I'm a teacher and I hear things way more offensive than that coming out of 13 year olds. Look at it as a compliment to Led Zepplen and move on with your lives.
