Jennifer Hudson vs. Amber Riley: Who Sang Whitney Better?
A pair of contrasting Whitney Houston covers hit the small screen this week. At least in terms of their planning.
First, in a tribute to the late singer, Jennifer Hudson took to the Grammy Awards stage - with just 24 hours to prepare - and belted out an incredible rendition of "I Will Always Love You."
Then, on last night's new Glee episode - by sheer coincidence, in a scene taped weeks ago - Amber Riley covered the same classic track as part of that Fox program's Valentine's Day episode, shedding tears in the process over her character's status on the show.
Who did a better job? Watch both and decide:

one was sung live with an emotional singer who just lost her idol less then 24hr ago and another was recorded in a studio. Not a fair question, but go on youtube and find jennifer singing it too whitney at the 2010 bet honors. Then compare

I think Jennifer Hudson did a beautiful job full of emotion and we could see and almost feel her pain. I have to say I love hearning Jennifer singing any song. I think a live version is harder to do than a studio version and I take nothing away from the other singer. I just like Jennifer the best. Tragically Jennifer knows first hand what Ms. Houston's family is enduring

Which do you like autotuned or the live version of the song. Jennifer Hudson hands down did a better job with true heart and emotion.Congrats Ms.Hudson on winning two NAACP Image Awards on Friday night.Did Amber Riley win a NAACP Image Award on Friday, I think not. TeamJHud

Many of you are clearly not familiar with Amber, yet. She sings with beauty! Live is fantastic, too. You assume it was all studio magic, It isn't. Hudson did do a beautiful job, even through grief, but I beg to difer as to her downplaying it, I heard a completely different song, I guess. I thought she made a point of showing off just a bit more than seemed appropriate.
And I know most here are to young to remember, but this song was written & first done - and beautifully, by Dolly Parton. Miss Whitney did a nice version, but there was no raw pain, no edge. She had a beautiful voice, but it lacked depth.(of COURSE this my opinion) Amber Riley brought the original beauty of the song to life. Simply stunning. It is a pleasure to listen to Amber every time, every moment, and without the sky high diva attitude that Jennifer & Whitney brought along.

I think Amber did a great job on this. Technically, this is a hard song to master. However, have you heard Charice Pempengco's version,- which is the closest to Whitney's I've heard so far. On a more important note, I agree with all of you, that no one does it better than the beautiful lady herself. We miss you already Whitney. May you finally get the peace you sought.

Jennifer Hudson sung it the best, we continue to talk about Jennifer Hudson since the tribute and after. No one can touch the new Queen of Soul. Whitney passed the torch to Hudson on the night of the Grammy's. Who is Amber Riley...not even Whitney knew who she was when she approached Whitney Houston before her death, but she knew Jennifer Hudson. TeamJHUD

The problem is Jennifer was singing through grief... and Amber was singing for her show... I still think Amber was better!
