Why go public with this information?

Because McNichol "is very sad about kids being bullied," her publicist, Jeff Ballard, tells the magazine. "She hopes that coming out can help kids who need support. She would like to help others who feel different."

McNichol has been out of the spotlight for years. In the 1980s, she left acting for awhile due to emotional issues that included bouts of depression and has not appeared in a movie or a TV show since 1998.

Both groups, homosexuals and black people, suffered discrimination but for different reasons. Homosexuals because of how they chose to live their lives and black people because of the way that they were born and where they were born. Homosexuals have the choice to accept their fate or not, black people did not have any other choice but to accept the fate of how they were born. So before you start carrying your pink flag in protest talking about someone violating YOUR civil rights when white homosexuals are just as prejudice as white heterosexuals, you need to accept the fact that homosexuals are not born that way and you need to stop heckling and insulting the intelligence of the heterosexual communities with that cow manure. You know that homosexuals are majority of the people with mental disabilities, on medication because of it, are the greater majority seeking counseling, and most homosexuals are suicidal!!

You need to wake up and smell the coffee!! Because you are commenting like homosexuals are a minority similar to the type of people of African descent. Major difference. The only possible similarity is the fact that both class experience discrimination. But for much different reasons. Homosexuals are hated and discriminated against because some people find homosexuals act of sodomy disgusting and frustrating! Whereas, black people are hated and discriminated against because of skin color, race, and/or nationality.

First they came for the Jews and I did not speak up for them, for I was not Jewish. Then they came for the blacks, and I did not speak up for them for I am not black. Then they came for the Asians and Latinos and I did not speak up for them for I was not Asian or Latino. Then they came for the Muslims, and I did not speak up because I am not a Muslim. Then they came for the gay people, but I was only one man, so I did not speak up. Then they came for me, and I looked around and saw that there was no one left to speak up for me!

God have allowed all man the right to chose so that we may know the difference between what is righteousness and unrighteousness and to choose righteousness over unrighteousness thereof. God does not keep any of his truths hidden. God is a God who does not show favoritism.

God knows the heart of man that we are altogether unrighteous because we were born in sin. But in spite of the fact that God did not make man perfect, God loves man unconditionally and He gives man everything that we need to be perfect in Him. We are to be Godlike and so that we may live Godly lives, so that we do not continue to sin and fall short or His glory. All we have to do is believe that He is and that He is a rewarder to those who diligently seek Him. Because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. So if we ask, we must believe so that it may be given unto us. And we are to be in the world, but not of the world. Therefore, I know all too well about judging others. And I am not making any judgment calls. But I stand by the fact that people do not commit homosexual acts because they were born that way. People commit homosexual acts because of the sinfulness of man.

The fact that individuals define themselves in a significant way through their intimate relationships with others suggests that in a country as diverse as the United States of America is, that there may be many "right" ways of conducting those relationships!
In a variety of circumstances, we have to recognize that giving individuals freedom to choose how to conduct their lives, is acceptance of the fact that different individuals will make different choices!
Freedom to differ is not limited to things that do not matter much! That would be a mere shadow of freedom. The test of freedom is the right to differ about things that touch the heart of the existing order!
It is precisely because the issue raised by same-sex relationships touches the heart of what makes individuals who they are that we should be especially sensitive to the rights of those whose choices upset the majority!
