Who Was the Most Charitable Celebrity of 2011?

by at . Comments

Through numerous drunk driving arrests, sex tapes, bar fights and, well, the existence of Courtney Stodden, it's easy to forget that celebrities actually do a lot of good.

And the organization DoSomething.org wants to remind people of that: it has released a list of the top 20 most charitable stars in 2011, with Lady Gaga leading the way. This singer is almost as well known for her causes - from her support of gay rights to her fight against AIDS and poverty - as she is for her string of number-one hits.

The eccentric singer even visited the White House this month and has created her own charity the Born this Way Foundation.

“There are some interesting trends from this year’s list,” says Aria Finger, COO of DoSomething.org. “It’s dominated by young celebrities and we also see so many couples. Last year the list had its first power couple, Ashton and Demi, and this year there are a total of four couples. Doing good is definitely fun in groups.”

Here are the top 20 do-gooders of 2011, according to the website:

  1. Lady Gaga
  2. Justin Bieber
  3. George Clooney
  4. Will & Jada Pinkett Smith
  5. Leonardo DiCaprio
  6. Matt Damon
  7. Ellen DeGeneres
  8. Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie
  9. Dwight Howard
  10. Demi Lovato
  11. Shakira
  12. Ashton Kutcher & Demi Moore
  13. will.i.am
  14. Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert
  15. Nick Cannon
  16. Lea Michele
  17. Daniel Radcliffe
  18. Miley Cyrus
  19. Coldplay
  20. Taylor Swift

White People ? Well that's pretty rsiact. Its sad that if she were a white person aiming that comment at a black person all hell would break lose, but, of course, that would not happen because white people are too afraid to even call black people black and not African Americans . ok Rihanna doesnt want to be a role model, so what, its not like she would even be a good one. But she could at least at like a nice person or act like she even cares about her fans at all. After all, she wouldnt even have a job if people didnt listen to her shitty music . I know one thing is for sure, I definitely WONT be listening to any more of Rihanna' so-called music .

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!! I hope you all continue to be as fortunate and giving in 2012 and for many years to come!!
I nominate you all for the "Humanitarian Award"...may God bless you!

If your not apart of charity yourself what makes u think you can comment about what others do smfh

Snicker "Oh gee not one kartrashian on the list. Not a surprise!" Kim and Khloe do a lot of charity work. Kim recently traveled to Haiti (not just to shop) and Khloe works with The Children's Hospital L.A. and PETA (although I detest this organization). Again, it's a top 20 list.

Cheers all around! Congrats to everyone who made the list. Let's keep it positive people. Also, there is no need to trash anyone who hasn't made the list. It's a Top 20 List. The one thing I will say that I don't believe is negative at all is that a lot of the celebs listed have their own foundations. Every celeb doesn't have the time to give as much as they'd like. I am sure tons of celebs give when and where they can. Some give anonymously.

Daniel Radcliffe rocks! it does't matter the amount he donate THIS YEAR because he is always helping out not just in one year.

We should applaud the celebs on the top 20 list for being charitable, not bash them for what number they are ranked. Let's bash celebs who make a TON of money who aren't even on the list...like Oprah and Tom Cruise!

Just cos he is so far down the list doesnt mean its bad at least he is charitable unlike some celebs.

Oh gee not one kartrashian on the list. Not a surprise!

Beyonce, J Z, and Rihanna aren't even on the list either - shame on them!
