GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney is making a serious TV ad play in the first two primary states, hoping to secure back to back wins and cruise to the nomination.

But can he convince Republican voters he's conservative enough?

He won't fail for lack of trying. The Romney campaign's newest Iowa ad is even called "Conservative Agenda" and vows to make government "simpler, smaller and smarter."

Touting his experience, Romney says he will "get rid of Obamacare" and says that "it is a moral imperative for America to stop spending more money than we take in."

Convinced? Check out the ad below and see:

The January 3 Iowa caucuses are less than a week away. In New Hampshire, which votes January 10, the former Massachusetts Governor enjoys a sizable polling lead.

It shows in his latest TV ad there, which features a more relaxed and uplifting Mitt. "This will be a campaign about the soul of America, about American greatness," he says.

"I'm confident that Americans won't settle. I'm confident that Americans will refuse to be bought off by cheap promises that turn into never-ending debts for our children."

Watch the spot, titled "Earn It" below and see if he can:

Former Saturday Night Live staff writer Joe Bodolai has died in an apparent suicide. His body was discovered yesterday by a cleaning crew at an L.A. hotel.

Law enforcement sources say Bodolai, who wrote several Wayne's World sketches for SNL as well as the movie, had been staying there more than a week.

A mixture of anti-freeze and Gatorade may have done him in, TMZ reports.

Bodolai also had posted what appears to be a suicide note on December 23 on his blog, titled, "If This Was Your Last Day Alive What Would You Do?"

He goes on to describe some of the things he remembers, and laments.

In the note, Bodolai writes about "Stuff I Would Like to Have Seen In My Life" such as the Browns winning the Super Bowl and the "truth" about JFK.

The autopsy results for Heavy D are in.

The iconic rapper reportedly passed away in November from a pulmonary embolism - a blockage in one of his arteries, initiated by a blood clot in his leg - which may have been exacerbated by a long flight to the Michael Jackson memorial concert.

The L.A. County Coroner's Office has listed Heavy D's death as "natural" and added that the artist suffered from heart disease.

Relating his passing to the long flight he took to Europe a few days prior is speculation, but such extended inactivity is a common cause of death for those with deep leg vein thrombosis.

We already know that Justin Bieber is an incredible boyfriend.

Turns out, he's a pretty awesome best friend, too.

Consider what Justin gave childhood BFF Ryan Butler: a Mustang convertible! The pal, who had a cameo in the video for "One Time," Tweeted a photo of the gift Monday night, along with the message: "Justin got me a present. #swag!!!"

As for Bieber? He's been chilling at home in Canada, as the superstar chimed in via Twitter on Christmas Eve: "spending time with family - feels really good."

He also presented fans with these two videos on Christmas Day. Granted, we'd rather have had a new car, but still.

Lindsay Lohan is adamant that she is proud of the progress she's made with the judge in her probation case and as a result, she's planning a low key New Year's.

She's even passing up six-figure paydays as a result.

The 25-year-old resurgent train wreck has gotten a bunch of offers to host some ragers on December 31, but has stunningly turned down each and every one.

Lindsay Lohan, Sweater

According to reports, Lindsay is desperately trying to change her party girl image and feels that staying away from NYE madness is a step in the right direction.

Seriously, this is true!

LiLo's decision will cost her big bucks, as she's been offered upwards of $100K to ring in New Year's Eve at various venues. But long term, it's not worth it to her.

The nearly seven-figure check she just got for her Playboy photos should ease the pain somewhat, as well. Imagine, nearly $1M for some Lindsay Lohan pics!

Saturday night, Lindsanity plans to ring in 2012 with a few close friends at her home, though she may go out to dinner beforehand. Girl, we hardly know ye!

The most-well known atheist in Hollywood is at it again.

Following Tim Tebow's worst performance of the season - four interceptions thrown in a 40-14 drubbing at the hands of the lowly Bills - Bill Maher Tweeted about the faithful quarterback:

Wow, Jesus just f—d #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere in hell Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler “Hey, Buffalo’s killing them."

  • Tim Tebow Pic

The Tweet enraged many online, including Fox News' Eric Boiling, who replied: Bill Maher is disgusting vile trash. I can’t even repeat what he just tweeted about Tebow..on Christmas Eve. #straighttohellBill

Not surprisingly, Tebow - who was warned by a fake JC Himself that upcoming games would be difficult - didn't address Maher's Tweet, simply writing after his poor showing Saturday:

Tough game today but what’s most important is being able to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas everyone GB².

What do you think of Maher's message? Did it go too far?

Political blog Pardon the Pundit has come up with a hilarious guide to making a campaign ad using Rick Perry's recent "Strong" video as its principal case study.

If you recall, Perry started running this 30 second piece of art to prove that he's the real conservative of the Republican party. And Obama hates Christmas.

It's a pretty great political satire of political commercial. Check out the breakdown and the original ad spot run by the Texas Governor in Iowa below ...
