Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar Name Late, Unborn Daughter; Memorial Planned For Wednesday

After the miscarriage of their 20th child last week, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar announced that they will hold a memorial service on Wednesday, December 14.

They've also given the baby girl a name: Jubilee Shalom Duggar.

The stars of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting discovered at a routine ultrasound that the child, due next April, no longer had a heartbeat and Michelle had miscarried.

"We have had many tears today," says Jim Bob Duggar, 46. "This is life, and I understand that we are going though something that many others have."

"You think about the what-ifs, but God gives us strength to go on. We won't be able to see this child's life and the phases we've seen for our other children."

"But we will see this child in heaven one day. We are thankful, and we are blessed to have the children we have here and the ones we will meet someday."

Jim Bob says they are grateful for the health of youngest daughter, Josie, who turned 2 on December 10, and who has endured serious health problems.

Jubilee Duggar's memorial service will be for their friends and the Duggar family members, who already held a private service in their home late Sunday.

Should the Duggars try again for baby #20?

Thanks, Lula! You have a very btuaeiful family– very easy on the eyes (and the lens!)

I agree cemtlopely! I couldn't handle that many, but they seem to really be grounded and although different from mine, a very close and happy family. Nothing wrong with that! We need more that them I think to teach the rest of us!

@riley maybe you should be a little more empathetic. It is impossible and unrealistic to expect someone not to mourn the loss of their child!!!!

I slept with my grandfater

I'm a whore....

I slept with my husbands brother

@Riley I will definitely get that book. I can honestly say I have never seen someone go public with such a personal matter. However, I do feel it was her right to do what she needed to do. Like you, I wonder the reprecussions if it falls in the wrong hands. It got quite alot of comments in just 1 day. I hope their family stays strong. The first miscarriage she took as a sign to stop birth control. I'm not sure if she has publicly said anything this time.

@67fuon3 I personally think that taking out pictures of the baby was a good thing. Because she will always be apart of their family and they should have a remembrance of her. But what I'm concerned about is the fact that in a few months the world would be able to see the pictures. And their are some cruel people out their, who knows what they would do to those pictures and that could ruin the Duggars. And to all those parents who lost kids I suggest you try and get your hand on the "Karen Kingsbury and Baxter family" series. Its around 16 books. One of them talks about and shares a story about a mother who's baby was diagnosed with neural deficiency and the doctors suggested she abort. But she carried the child to terms. And after the baby was born they spent a few hours with her before she died but those few hours changed many peoples lives. The name of that particular book is 'Summer' its in the sunrise series!!!

@Riley I understand you now. I have seen people literally mourn to their death. Did you see the new article about the Duggards? I'm speechless for now on that. @Jane I would like to know your comments on the new article-post as well.

@Riley.... That is an interesting point of view and seems logical. The difference is the feelings that go with being pregnant. It depends on when you lose your baby. Some early miscarriages people don't mourn, others do. When you hit about 20 weeks you feel the baby and they are able to determine the sex. Your logical mind goes out the window and you wonder about who they will be etc... I consider myself lucky because my baby was born at 26 weeks and lived almost 2 days. I got to see, hold, bond and then he died. You just get lost. People try to comfort you, it truly doesn't work. You have a baby room, diapers, clothes...you look at until removed. I suffered 2 miscarriages years later. That is why I made it my lifes work to help all people. Grieving parents, hospice patients and counceling among other things. So you are career oriented? We actually watch ABC fam....will ask the family to look for your name. Riley, is there a particular show?

Duggar Family Quotes

And so be available, and not just available, but be joyfully available for him. Smile and be willing to say, 'Yes, sweetie I am here for you,' NO MATTER WHAT, even though you may be exhausted and big and pregnant and you may not feel like he feels. 'I'm still here for you and I'm going to meet that need because I know it's a need for you.' - Michelle

Anyone can fix him lunch, but only one person can meet that physical need of love that he has, and you always need to be available when he calls. - Michelle Duggar on saying yes (yes, and more yes) to sex
