Maksim Chmerkovskiy Calls Out Derek Hough, Won't Apologize to Dancing With the Stars Judges
Maksim Chmerkovskiy sort of backed off his comments Monday about Dancing With the Stars being "his" show, but is still plenty pissed at the judges.
Chmerkovskiy laid into Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli after what he believed were scathing, personal critiques of his routine with Hope Solo.
Lacey Schwimmer and Chaz Bono, who were eliminated Tuesday night, felt similarly and supported Maksim, but Ricki Lake's partner Derek Hough took the judges' side.
That drew a stinging rebuke from Chmerkovskiy ...
"Derek Hough has been very supportive of his personal career on the show," Maksim said in an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America.
"With all due respect, if I had Nicole Scherzinger followed by Jennifer Grey followed by Ricki Lake, I probably would not be upset with the judges either."
Maksim wishes he hadn't said in the heat of the moment that DWTS is "his" show and he is the reason for its success, acknowledging it's a team effort.
But he won't praise the judges, either.
"I had a long conversation with my dad and I don't regret anything," he reflected on GMA. "That's why I think I'm misunderstood in this situation."
"Everyone is waiting for me to bow my head and plead for forgiveness. I have nothing to apologize for. I'm in the business because I love it."
"The one thing I'm not going to embrace is pointing fingers and disrespectful remarks," he explained. "Why are judges allowed to compare us to animals and point their fingers and then we can't say our side and show our opinion?"
"I can't really lose with remarks like this."
Whose side are you on?

I think all the professional dancers were outstanding, especially the men, Maks, Val, Tony , Derek, Triston, and Mark. I dearly love watching them, they are great choreographers , artists, athletes and they do an outstanding job with the dancers they are given. They deserve a crown in heaven for those that think they know more than the professional dancers. The judges however are a different story. Who made them God. They were very rude to several of the stars. It is a good thing to give constructive criticism but not rude and abusive remarks. I think that was very uncalled for, after all these stars are trying their hearts out. I'm really disappointed in the judges behavior and think they need a reprimand. Subjective comments can be biased for whatever reason.

I agree with max. I think the judges egos are way out of hand. I really like derk but can not believe that he is on the judges side. I teach my kids at school to look at what they have done as a improvement .No one should put up with disrespect. The judges are showing our young people it is ok to disrespect people and call names. Need new judges!!!!!

I feel that Maks was totally correct in his letting the sometimes over critical comments they make to the professionals and the contestants. The same goes for being compared to a penquin - for Chaz Bono - that was totally unnecessary, the criticism should be constructive not insulting. GO MAKS, don't let anyone walk all over you. Len couldn't even twist the night he got on the dancefloor, his attempt would not have even got a zero from me.

While I do not think the judges should say some of the mean things they do..just stick to explaining what someone is doing wrong. I do think Mak is out of control and has been for quite some time. It is like he thinks he has to "break" a woman before he teaches her to dance. He makes them cry right away.... He really has no business getting angry about what the judges say, he has made every woman dancer he has gotten cry. I really don't see him winning because of himself, not because of his partner.

I was excited to see Nancy Grace do so well. I have never watched this show until this season, and I was very surprised to see how the judges react with the contestants. I guess like every show you have to have a judge that is an absolute jerk and in my opinion Len is a jerk, he is extremely negative, then you have Carrie Ann who is so damn phoney it isn't funny, and for the other judge no comment. Nancy Grace may have not been a good dancer but her cause and the money she earned from this show is great, Exploited and Missing children is a great cause, have any other contestants on this show given there winnings to a charity?

Whether you have skills and rhythm or two left feet, every professional who joins DWTS hopes at some point & time they can do well on the show. Unless you are a comedian looking for laughs.
No one enjoys being embarrass and made fun of, especially in front of a large audience.
So I think I have to agree with Maks on this one.
There is such a thing called constructive criticism, which will actually encourage and help people to improve.
Name calling and demeaning remarks dose not fall under "critiquing". This is called bulling...
It seems the producers are looking for the same shock factor as American idol with Simon Cowell.
Maybe the producers and the judges should put their behinds up there, and lets see how long they will last under the same treatment.....
Maks like every one else has his own style in teaching. I notice with Kirstie Alley who is not only in the baby boomer crowd like myself, but also like myself had a lot to move on the dance floor.
Kirstie did very w

I feel very bad for Hope. Max has this way of making his students feel very bad about themselves. He jerked Hope around in a very disrespectful manner during their team practice and I believe that wasn't the first time he did something like that to his student either. He always points out what his students are doing wrong, but rarely looks at what he could be doing that isn't right.
Tony was partnered with Kate Gosselin. He may have lost his patience once or twice but Kate was a handful. I don't buy the shit that Max was only trying to protect Hope when he made that comment about Len, because he was the one who put Hope in that embarrassing situation in the first place by making her to do all those "sexy" moves. It's pretty obvious that Hope just doesn't move that way. He should have noticed it in practice.
Let's not forget Maks had the opportunity to be partnered with really good dancers too such as Brandy and Erin Andrews. I don't get why he's complaining that Derek gets all t

It's Dancing with the Stars, not Maksim's Show. And judges are there to critique. If he can't take it leave. His partners never win because his teaching is abusive and rude. All the other instructors are caring and showcase their Star partners. Maksim's ego surpassed his talent, they should fire him from the show.
Derek made Hope look good on the group dance (he's a sweetheart).

These judges need to take it easy with their harsh comments. Maks is right! Maybe it's time Len retires and they get someone new in there. Carrie Ann is a bitch! Mak's is definitely a little tough with his dancers but that's his style and he does a good job! It can't be easy trying to teach people who can't dance to save their lives!

I recommoned Max to talk to the soviet union judges that way they would shoot him on the spot, why is he in America oh maybe what he makes on one episode would feed a village in his country.
