Johnny Depp Speaks on The Rum Diary Role: A Living Tribute to Hunter S. Thompson

by at . Comments

Johnny Depp, who took audiences inside the world of Hunter S. Thompson in 1998's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, returns to that warped paradise again this week.

The Oscar winner stars in The Rum Diary, based on Thompson's novel by the same name and centered around a journalist named Paul Kemp (a.k.a. Thompson).

Depp recently took THG's partner site, Movie Fanatic, on a journey to the alcohol-soaked paradise in Puerto Rico ... not literally, sadly. But he talked all about it.

This is a special film for Depp, who found the manuscript for what would be one of Thompson's final books, and for whom portraying his close friend is a true honor.

Watch The Rum Diary trailer below, then follow the link for Movie Fanatic's one-on-one interview with Johnny Depp himself, the actor who carries on Hunter's legacy ...

Once again the uneducated show there ignorance. The Rum Diary is both a brilliant novel and movie. If the writer of the first comment had an inkling of intelligence he would know that Thompson was cleared of any involvement in the Franklin Scandal by the investigator Boccio and Depp choses to live in France to protect and rear his children safely. Take a look at what is happening in the US and our societal problems and you might understand!

This guy is a Rodeo Clown. Why do people like this "Anti-American" Clown continue to come back to this country. He should go back to Paris and take Sean " If people could understand me" Penn with him. Sick of your Carribbean Movies--You look like a Bob Dylan "Wanna Be" with that stupid hat!

I am a Depp fan but I find it hard to support a movie about Thompson after is involvement with the "Franklin Scandal". Many believe his suicide was due to his name coming out & his involvement filming the actions.
