ESPN to Hank Williams, Jr.: You're Fired!!!!

by at . Comments

Hank Williams, Jr., has officially been fired by ESPN, ending the country crooner's 22-year run as the singer of the network's Monday Night Football intro theme.

His recent of comparison of President Obama to Hitler was the cause.

ESPN already pulled Hank's song from Monday's game as they mulled Williams' fate, but has now decided to cut ties with him permanently. The network said:

"We appreciate his contributions over the past years, however, the success of Monday Night Football has always been about the games and that will continue."

Ouch. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Hank also called Obama and Joe Biden "the enemy" and "the three stooges" (he did not reveal the third stooge's identity).

Minutes after getting canned, Williams dubiously tried to claim HE LEFT his easy, famous, high-paying gig at ESPN, saying in a statement, "I have made MY decision."

The irate singer adds, "By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It’s been a great run.”

Like so many, Williams apparently does not understand the First Amendment.

This right allows him to say what he likes without fear of persecution, yes. It does not, however, preclude a private company from firing him for being a dumbass.

Sorry, Hank. Herman Cain would agree with us, here: Blame yourself.

The people who disagreed with Mr.Williams firing are probally racist pigs also, I've never heard of a President more disrespected than President Obama, not Obama, not Mr.Obama but President Obama! Get over it you got a black president but then again you think Christopher Columbus discovered America- oops forgot white people are always changing things to their liking!

this ,like everything else, is about revenue , plain and simple... when you have a high profile job and you want to keep it , you would be best advised to not comment on anything that can be dissected by another... big companies will ALWAYS side with the majority in the court of public opinion... right or wrong , black or white... if they decide that a situation is going to cost them, they have a duty and obligation to their shareholders to figure it out...

Bonnie from West, Texas YOU GO HANK! ESPN get with the program. This is still the U S of A isn't it. He voiced an opinion and was fired for that opinion, well I guess ESPN won't be my choice of sports viewing anymore. Let's face it O'Bama is trying to take everything from us, and obviously, when Hank spoke against him ESPN got rid of Hank. Let's face it, there WILL NOT be another song ESPN can use that will be as great as Hank's was. I guess when the US has a black president, anything negative towards that president is not part of our right to freedom of speech?!!!!!

The people who rail against the firing of this redneck simpleton should remember that respect should always be shown to the office of the Presidency in a civilized society. Mr. Obama has been disrespected repeatedly by many of these ignorant types since winning the office because he is half Black, and not for anything else. If the man was not surrounded by like-minded savages, he would have done much good for this country by fulfilling more of his promises. He does not deserve any of the crap that has been thrown at him. For his own good, I wish that he would tell America where to stick it, take his beautiful family some place far from this place; buy himself a boat and go fishing.

I AGREE WITH ESPN. SOME PEOPLE THINK IT'S OPEN SEASON TO CALL THE PRESIDENT WHATEVER THEY WANT. THIS IS THE MOST DISRESPECTED PRESIDENT. WHAT YOU MEAN FREEDOM OF SPEECH, YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING YOU WANT TO ABOUT THE PRESIDENT OF AMERICA AND GET AWAY WITH IT!!!!

Good Riddance to Williams. Never liked him anyway.

Has Obama taken away freedom of speech in the US too? He has done his best to take everything else away. Shame on ESPN for bowing to pressure.

@Nez fyi he didnt like bush either, he made a whole song about it, but nobody jumped on his case then i guess bcuz bush was white it was ok not to like him. And it pisses me off that everybody is reporting this as he compared obama to hitler. So ignorant to not be able to understand a simple analogy. If he would have said "that would be like batman playing golf with the joker" would everybody say that he compared the prez to a comic book and get all offended? Same idea but bcuz everybody is so shallow u cant say the name hitler. smh @ ignorance of the press and anybody else who thinks he should have lost his spot.
