Toddlers & Tiaras Reaches a New Low
Toddlers & Tiaras is a show on TLC that focuses on parents who dress their children up in ridiculous outfits, force them to learn a talent and then pressure them to perform in tyke-based beauty pageants around the country.
In other words: there's very little high ground to be found anywhere on this series.
Yet the reality program has still managed to reach a new low, airing a promo this week that focuses on Paisley, A THREE-YEAR OLD CONTESTANT, who is dressed like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, i.e. a prostitute.
Rages the Parents Television Council in response: "We have a serious problem when a network formerly known as The Learning Channel features a toddler, who probably hasn't even learned to read, dressed as a prostitute showing off her sexy strut.
"For years we've seen adult sexuality being inappropriately and aggressively foisted on innocent young children, but children today are being sexualized at younger and younger ages. All available data suggests they will suffer for it later in life."

THIS.IS.SO.SICK! Why would parents (particularly mothers)force their poor children into these stupid pageants? LET THEM ENJOY CHILDHOOD! This show sucks - take it off TV!

I take huge offense to the "from the south, ignorance" statement. I am Texas born and raised, and I think all of this crap is rediculous, and just a step away from stripping. Maybe you need to re-examine yourself for that ignorant comment, jackass.

Well, these parents are pretty ignorant. They must come from the south, where ignorance breeds. Not everyone i know. But like bill maher said the girls are dressed up to look like prostitutes. thats it. Just more fuel for the predators, child rapists,etc. I guess noone learned anything from the death of jonbenet ramsey. Keep it up parents good job.

that wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be but not something that should be worn in public. if my daughter dressed like that at home then it would be silly and cute, but to put a child like that in public on tv is so sad. some girls LOVE being in pagents cuz its like dress up to them, but most parents take it to the extreme. id put my daughter in a pagent if she wanted to but id never exploit her like that. who purposley* dresses their daughter like a hooker? geez ppl come on!

I can understand that pageants may boost childrens confidence, but your messing them up more than helping them when you throw these outfits and make up on kids this young.trust me, the dolly and the daisy dukes got fussed over to.just not as bad as this & a few other outfits for the fact that this is pushing it extremely to far.some make up is okay,but pounds of it is ridiculous.your teaching these kids to be fake is whats really happening.your not teaching them to be themselves and love themselves the way they are.most (not all) of the people i know that grew up doing these things have grown up to have confidence,but have it only when there face is caked with make up & their hair is perfect.their cofidence is completely gone without that mask.these outfits these kids wear are just ridiculous! The fact that they are out there barely wearing anything makes these parents look terrible! Pushing your child to do things they dont want to do is nuts! Let these kids be themselves

I have watched the show from the first season until now, although I never put my daughter in this type of compition at this young age I did force her to play other sports..every competition requires you to wear a uniform of some sort it is no different for these young girls in competition..I do know that my daughter had her own opinion of who she liked or did not like as far as television goes and I have heard the mothers of these young girls say that they love a certain actress...where was the outrage when the little girl was dressed like Daisy on the Dukes of Hazard or when the little girl was dressed like Dolly wearing the fake boobs..seems to me you are picking and choosing who you want to pick on do you really think the little girls in the compitition knows that shes dressed like a prostitute I can assure you the only one making a big deal out of it is the parent of the other kids just like they did on the other two I mentioned before..the other girls in the compitition with the l
