Madonna Sort of Openly Disses Lady Gaga!

Is Lady Gaga like a hydrangea to Madonna?

The Material Girl didn't overtly slam the current pop phenom when asked about her by a French newspaper recently, but she also didn't have much to say in the way of encouragement or appreciation for Lady Gaga.

What did Madonna say about her exactly?

"As for Lady Gaga, I have no comment to make about her obsessions having to do with me because I don't know whether her behavior is rooted in something deep and meaningful, or superficial," she reportedly told Le Soir.

Ouch. Not an insult, but far from glowing and a bit accusatory.

Back when "Born This Way" first came out, the Lady was accused more than once of ripping off Madonna's "Express Yourself." Gaga said on The Tonight Show that she had received an email from Madonna's camp in support of the song.

Madonna's rep later told E! that she did not know of any such email.

As for the current quote, her camp sought to downplay and feud.

Madonna's rep, Liz Rosenberg didn't immediately have a comment regarding the French interview, but she told E! News, "I do know that [Madonna] has said many supportive things about Gaga over the years."

The other singer's rep hasn't yet returned a request for comment, but we wouldn't expect anything but high praise from the younger of the two.

For her part, Lady Gaga has spoken openly about her love for Madonna and has paid homage to the pioneer both in song and performance style.

This isn't a full-blown spat (yet), but if you had to pick a side ...

First of all, madonna was great in her day, but let's face it Lady Gaga is original and is not afraid to express herself and her feelings , My hat's off to Lady Gaga i think she's great. Her music is outstanding and she is off the wall but i will always remain a big fan and a little monster.... Go Gaga

Oh, please, if Gaga were imitating Madonna, she'd writhe around on the stage and strain to reach her notes. Gaga can play piano, write songs and sing beautifully....none of which were ever done by the overrated Madonna.

Go go gaga......fuck madonna

I remember when Madonna started. She had a gimmick too to get noticed. Couldn't stand her cause all she did was wear her bras on the out side of her shirts and scream into the mic. Was shock to learn she could really sing, but that was after she decided to be her self. Lady Gaga maybe different, but she can sing. Madonna needs to remember what an idiot she was in the beginning.

The main difference is Lady GAG me has to use drugs to be somewhat creative and trust me she will sadly end up like all the others! I completely respect all the humanitarian work Madonna does and still love her music.

I Hate Gaga Team
Go Madonna Team!!!!! Madonna its not a Biggy Monster Judas Singer of The World I Love Madonna (l)

Same thing can be said about Madonna having her Marilyn Monroe obsession just like Christina Aguilera,Gwen Stefani,Lindsay Lohan,Beyounce,Megan Fox,Christina Hnendricks being obsessed with Marilyn same thing can be said about Kim Kardashian being obsessed with JLO.In other words why is Madonna being so mean there is no one original thats famous right now they all copy each other and copy from other celeb ideas, music and try to be someone they are not.

SoReal58 - great posting!

Well actually Madonna has real musical and performance talent - Gaga is a circus clown [and a sickly one at that].

I honestly can day 100% can not vote on which team, for the simple fact they good singer good singers. And what's wrong w/ having a unique style! And Madonna also inthe beginning of her caree! was known for her expression in her songs/clothes ! And what wrong w/ Lady Gaga seeing her as an idol , come on how do u think people want/dream/become singer stars!
