Herman Cain Criticizes Morgan Freeman Remarks, Praises Tea Party

by at . Comments

Herman Cain will never occupy the Oval Office, but he's become a popular figure on the campaign trail this fall, and as an African-American, his rebuttal to Morgan Freeman's controversial comments about the Tea Party carries some weight.

If you missed it, Freeman called the Tea Party racist on Piers Morgan Tonight Friday, criticizing the conservative movement's disdain for President Obama.

GOP presidential candidate Cain, the former CEO of Godfather's Pizza, disagrees.

Appearing on Fox's Your World with Neil Cavuto, the Hermanator said:

"Well, first of all, I doubt if Morgan Freeman, with all due respect, who's a great actor, has ever been to a Tea Party. Most of the people that are criticizing the Tea Parties... about having a racist element, they have never been to a Tea Party."

"I just think that it's sad that they're so short-sighted understanding what the Tea Party citizen movement is all about. I'm not offended by it, because it doesn't slow down my momentum. It doesn't slow down the reaction I get from people."

Cain, whose campaign is riding high after winning the Florida straw poll, added, "Name-calling is something that's going to continue, because they don't know how to stop this movement. And this movement is making a big difference in politics."

"A lot of the traditional Democrats are moving to the center or moving over to vote for conservatives. They're taking another look at a Herman Cain."

What do you think? Is the Tea Party racist?

Sarah Palin wants President Barack Obama to be impeached. Twitter users quickly made this the comic relief of the day.

Herman Cain is a very interesting canadidate. On the plus side, he is intelligent, well-spoken and fiscally inspirational. I am a moderate Democrat who would really like to see Cain's 9-9-9 plan implemented in Washington. It could restore the economy of our counry. On the negative side, he is far too conservative on personal issues, he has no experience, whatsoever, in government, and I tend to question the objectivity of someone who is an active Baptist minister. I would feel much better about Cain if he had been a Mayor or Governor and understood how the executive positions in government work...if he could demonstrate that his religious beliefs would not influence his political (or international) actions. Washington politics have destroyed more than one good man. Cain appears to be a good man who understands economic matters better than any other candidate. I'm watching him closely.

Finally a man who is straight forward and simple , I think he would make a great President.

Calling Cain an Uncle Tom is insulting and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Black Devil.......Hope he's dead by tomorrow. I know that's a bit childish, but I do mean it from the bottom of my heart. Imagine the hate this guy feels projected his way. I'm sure his relatives are perpetually rolling in their graves. You should be ashamed Herman. But your not................yuck

i just wish republicans would start reaching over the isle to the black community and extend their unemployment benefits. i mean, 2 years isn't long enough. Republicans have never done this. They always try to set up programs to get them off it. Blacks vote for democrats based on these kinds of issues. I saw it last night on msnbc. And how about the legalization of pot? i think we have to be looking into these issues more and start giving blacks more free stuff. I believe if we can do that, then we'll have blacks coming out in droves and ultimately we will win the presidency.

"Herman Cain will never occupy the Oval Office..." Why? Because he's black? What an idiotic start to the article.

Best thing we as republicans/tea party can do is legalize pot and extend unemployment benefits for blacks. they are hurting bad in their communities and need all the support they can get. We talk about education but it's we that need to be educated. We need to help by not taking away there government luxury. Hook em up FAT YO! Give them free stuff.

OMG! Cain need stop, he is making his self look crazy by signing a contract with the devil. Look what tea parties is doing right now, their trying to get a wanna be black republican man to win over black voters. Wow! I hate to comment this but, it seen to me that the republicans are trying to have two black men to be hateful against one another. Cain is not serious about leading this country. He is consider as one of them idiots that who dont care about nobody, but their self.

That Uncle Tom Cain should have stuck with selling pizzas because there is not a market for the bs he is trying to sell. Dumb*ss tomming for racist white party, wow!

There's really no reason for us to argue about black and white. Almost all black people are liberals, polls show that and they have been for as long as I can remember. I don't know one black person in the real world that thinks I'm a racist. They re going to use the racist card on tv for many many generations to come if you don't start doing something about it. I wouldn't let it get you all worked up over it. Martin Luther King Jr. marched the streets and he continues doing that still. 90% of the country voted for Obama and it didn't help blacks at all. YOU RE not racist. My suggestion is HELP black people out!! They are hurting bad for jobs in their communities. Reach out to those people. Cut their taxes give them incentives!! Just go to the polls and vote and let your state senators and representatives know how much you care. Until we reach out and help it's a waste of air and a waste of time talking in this forum. Walk the talk REPUBLICANS.
