American Psychiatric Association: Watching Chaz Bono on Dancing With the Stars is OK!
by Free Britney at .Dr. Keith Ablow recently suggested that watching Chaz Bono on Dancing With the Stars could "confuse" American youth and make them consider a sex change.
Not the case, a major industry group says.
The American Psychiatric Association says Ablow's assertion that seeing Chaz on DWTS will cause a spike in Gender Identity Disorder (GID) is unfounded.
John M. Oldham acknowledges that GID is a psychiatric disorder but told TMZ that as far as watching Chaz do the samba is concerned, there's no connection.
"There is no evidence that viewing a television game show with a transgender contestant would induce Gender Identity Disorder in young people," he said.
It may, however, infect you with bad dance moves if you try to emulate Chaz, if recent reports are to believed. We'll find out next Monday, September 19.

Well it's a very sad case as this poor woman is truly mentally ill. I believe that as a child she was living in a unsettling environment and with a mother that has issues of her own in constant plastic surgery and self image one can argue has triggered this. Michael Jackson comes to mind too. The doctor brilliantly drew the comparison with other forms of body dysmorphia which the psychiatrists are now finally begining to understand that this so-called transexualism is a part of; and also indeed that sexual deviancy of various forms are simply another face of the same coin and differ only in their focal object of desire (or what the person believes to be their object of desire - be it animals, children, members of the same sex or the elderly, fetishes etc). I think irresponsible doctors have a lot to answer for in encouraging these poor people and they really need help rather than pandering to their delusions.
