Simply put, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark is the horror film of the summer.
This might not be something you'd expect from Katie Holmes, but director Guillermo del Toro gets the most from this actress in a flick that opens today and is described as a "devilish delight" by our pals at Movie Fanatic.
While Mrs. Tom Cruise plays a key role, the star of the movie is Hailey Madison as Sally, a young girl whose parents are divorced and who starts to hear voices in a house that, in itself, becomes a major character.
Overall, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark is "pure del Toro," gushes Movie Fanatic. Along the lines of Pan’s Labyrinth, "the filmmaker crafts a world where evil lurks beneath the surface, literally."
