Adam Lambert on Sexuality: I Was Ashamed...

by at .

This Sunday, VH1 doesn't simply take fans Behind the Music of Adam Lambert. It takes viewers deep into the personal life of the American Idol runner-up.

On the upcoming special, Lambert talks about his childhood and when he knew he was "different." The realization came around the age of 12.

"I didn’t know how my parents would react," he says in the clip. "It was something that I was ashamed of because it was so different and wasn’t the norm and not encouraged and no one talks about that in school. That’s one of the things that’s so hard about being a young person and realizing you’re gay or bi or whatever - we’re not told that that’s okay.”

Listen to Lambert's new song on the topic HERE and then watch above.
