Former New York Yankees pitcher Hideki Irabu has been found dead in his California home. The native of Okinawa, Japan was just 42 years old.
It appears he committed suicide by hanging himself, according to reports. The L.A. County Coroner's office is trying to locate next of kin.
A Japanese pitching star, Hideki played for the Yankees, Expos, and Rangers, winning World Series rings with New York in 1998 and 1999.
R.I.P. Hideki Irabu (1969-2011).
Multiple reports indicate that the police are investigating Irabu's death as a suicide, although those reports were unconfirmed as of Thursday afternoon.
Irabu had been arrested twice in the past three years, once for drunk driving in California and another time for assaulting a bartender in Japan.
