Brad Womack "Not Ready" to Discuss Emily Maynard Breakup

Emily Maynard will open up to Chris Harrison about her breakup with Brad Womack in a special segment next week on The Bachelorette.

Brad will not be joining her.

Harrison said that Womack was not ready to discuss the split with Emily, to whom he proposed on The Bachelor finale earlier this year.

Maynard confirmed the breakup, which had been something of an open secret for some time, in an interview last week with People.

Harrison said he reached out to Brad to ask if he would participate in the interview, but the Texas bar owner was not willing to do so on television.

"While he gave his blessing for Emily to speak on their behalf, his emotions are still too raw and he wasn't ready to speak about it," Chris said. "I respect that and told him I was sorry we had to do this interview at all."

Yes. So sorry they had to rehash this publicly for ratings.

Harrison also said that Emily Maynard was "reluctant" to discuss the split, but wanted to set the record straight following so much media interest.

"Both Brad and Emily are friends of mine, and we all really thought the next time we saw them would be to plan their wedding," Chris blogged.

Harrison admitted the interview was awkward due to Brad's absence.

"I talk to Brad all the time so I sit down [with Emily] and say, 'This sucks doing this interview with one person and we're talking about a friend.'"

"As far as interviews go, even including Jason/Molly/Melissa this was the most awkward and uncomfortable because Brad wasn't there."

Womack did issue a brief, separate statement that the failure of their relationship was "completely [his] fault," although he did not elaborate.

    BRAD WILL LOOK BACK SOMEDAY AND FIND HE HAS MADE A TERRIBLE MISTAKE, BUT HE CAN"T SEE THAT AT 38 YRS OLD AND HAS LIVED THE LIFE STYLE HE HAS LIVED. EMILY HAS THE RIGHT IDEAS FOR A GOOD PERSON, WIFE AND FOREVER RELATIONSHIP. SADLY BRAD WILL REALIZE THIS WHEN IT'S TOO LATE FOR HIM. WHAT THE H.LL IS HE THINK?? I'M OLDER THEN BRAD AND KNOW WHERE HE'S AT IN THE STORY OF LIFE FOR MEN.

    Emily had too many insecurities, a reluctance to really commit, ask too much, gave too little for this relationship to really progress to something permanent. You saw this at the beginning and it never changed. It is a shame for both of them.

    I personally loved season 15 of The Bachelor. Although, it' s a shame that Brad and Emily had broken their engagement. I really was looking forward to the trip to the Grocery Store when I would be in line paying and I'd look over and see "Bachelor Wedding" and see a picture of Emily and Brad on the front p

    She had no feelings right from the word go and was only playing along. Sorry for Brad too, but what goes around comes around. Brad and Ashley are more suited. Go back to Ashley if she's still available cuz she was inlove with you.
