Scotty McCreery Makes History!

The impressive start to Scotty McCreery's career has now reached historic proportions.

The new American Idol champion's first single, "I Love You This Big," is now the highest-charting debut for a new country artist in 20 years.

The track shot to number-one on iTunes and number-three on Billboard's Digital Songs chart; while his compilation CD peaked at number-three on the country chart.

In response, Scotty - who will head to Nashville next week and start recording his first album - released the following statement:

"I am humbled and shocked by this news. I can't tell you what it means to me to be on the same charts as my musical heroes. I want to thank my fans and especially country radio for their support.

"I continue to be amazed by everything that has happened to me in such a short time.

"This is such a special song to me, so I am thrilled that it is getting such a great reception at country radio. What I love about 'I Love You This Big' is that it can mean different things to different people.  It could be about the relationship between a couple in love or a parent and child."

    WONDERFUL SCOTTY AND THE SHOEBOXES. I am unable to express depth of my appreciation for you, dear Scotty. I am emotionally an spiritually fulfilled by you, and indeed by your musical gifts. I heard you on a video say you may continue your music career for only a year. Please "say it ain't so" because that would bring sadness and disappointment to the very people you have said are why you sing. Break away from the insincere American Idol outfit ASAP so you are who benefits financially from your efforts and hard work. Opportunity to write this here is truly blessing. By the way, your comment at Burlington brought about warm and fuzzy feeling because "sweet Scotty" excellently silenced a heckler when he uttered EVEN BIGGER THAN YOU THINK. "God Gave Me You!"     This song is one of the best songs that I have erver heard.
