@ freespirit114, You're 100% correct. I can't possibly imagine being turned down for any kind of treatment or being told which doctor I can go to... that's ludicris! (not being sarcastic there) If I got sick tomorrow, I could waltz into any hospital and know that I would receive the proper treatment regardless of my income or age. It should be the same there too. The peace of mind that comes along with it is priceless.
So if I understand correctly the "free health care" program being proposed must actually be purchased first and even then there is a pannel of medical professionals who determing what treatment you can receive and what doctors you can see? What the hell! That's bulls**t! I can see why you don't want it! It's not what we have at all!!!! Good luck though I hope you get REAL free health care.
All this talk about medical panels......my insurance already dictates my treatments and medication to my doctor. So I don't understand why everybody gets so pissed about it. Private insurance already does all the terrible things any government plan will do.
@freespirit114- nope, no hating here! The whole american health plan is terrible. Like we just barely got a cheap plan from my husbands work cuz its the only thing we can afford. We made just enough to not qualify for medicaid but not enough to get decent insurance. It sux...

Thanks for answering my questions. However surgery wait times are usually based on urgency and I could call my doctor right now and get an appointment for this afternoon. That really sucks though about a pannel of medical professional deciding if you get treatment or not and that is horrifing that after 70 no cancer treatment... definately not like that here.
To Fanny: Americans don't want the free health care because it is not free. You are charged a fine if you do not purchase it. Everyone has to be covered and more will wind up on state run Medicaid which is bare bones healthcare. Why do Canadians come here for surgery? You get put on a waiting list. How long does it take to get an appointment to see your doctor? There wouldn't be enough doctors, the appointed panel of medical advisers would decide what treatment you can get. You won't get any cancer treatment after 70. There are many things not just one.
