Gwyneth Paltrow Blogs About Homosexuality, Alleged Bible Condemnation

by at . Comments

Gwyneth Paltrow took to her Goop blog today and raised an issue sure to result in numerous responses on both sides:

Does the bible truly condemn homosexuality? This is what the actress wrote:

A few months ago, in the heat of the tragic teen suicides that came about from intolerance of homosexuality, I saw a man on television who was apologizing for wishing death on gays from his facebook page. This member of an Arkansas school board was contrite for the violence in his words, but maintained that his values pertaining to homosexuality would remain, as he felt homosexuality was condemned in the bible.

This concept, while foreign to me, is interesting, as it used to justify so much judgement and separation in our society. When my daughter came home from school one day saying that a classmate had two mommies, my response was, "Two mommies? How lucky is she?!" What does it actually say in the bible that will cause some people to be upset by my line of thinking?

Respond away, THG readers. But try to keep it respectful as you answer: Does the bible condemn homosexuality?

This is the EXACT reason why I think god and religion are the root of all evil.. Gay people are born gay, they dont 'turn' gay. Duh, the ignorance behind every religion is astounding.. I think that 'the lord', 'jesus', 'jehovah', 'the holy spirit' whoever you beleive in should burn in he*l for awhile for brainwashing and instilling hate in so many followers. Seriously, religion is all a bunch of mind controlling bs.

In the end it's gods job to do the judging, not yours.
stop hating on someone who can't help the way they are.
A human being is a human being no matter what color or sexual orientation. God teaches love, not hate and if it bothers you... Don't look! They're not affecting your life so leave them alone, seriously gay marriage won't affect Ur lifestyle. Start worrying about other things like global warming or something

Stop hiding behind the transparent pseudo- compassionate mantra of "Love the sinner, not the sin." That attitude has NOTHING to do with God or love and EVERYTHING to do with ignorant bigots like you giving yourself permission to hate and judge. You're an ignorant, sanctimonious, insecure piece of garbage that needs to "posture" yourself above others to feel remotely good about yourself. Psych 101, you homophobes are so embarrasingly transparent. Take the log out of your own eye, you CUNT. And, yes, your gay bashing, masquerading as "compassion," earned you that title.

@ Donna: You are absolutely correct! With that being said, God hates the sin, not sinner.

I absolutely believe in god, and i also believe that Jesus died for our sins, and where gays are concerned, if god didn't want them here, then why would he put them on this planet? You all go ahead and keep bashing the gays, but do me one HUGE favor before you continue, look at yourselves in the mirror and tell me, didn't you have pre-marital sex? Have you ever stolen? I know each and every single one of you has masturbated at least once, and i know for sure, you have lied multiple times in your lives. In which these are all apparently "disliked" by the lord. so how about instead of disrespecting the loved children of god, judge yourselves and then see if your worthy of judging others. Because if we are honestly going to sit here and "hate" on the gays for loving the same sex, we might as well go back to the 1800's when we hated African Americans because of the color of their skin. COME ON NOW? like lets be realistic and stop being so damn childish.

Ok so i haven't read all the comments and someone could have said the exact same thing but I'll say it anyway, yes according to the bible being gay is wrong but that doesn't mean we have to hate and condemn a gay person. we can not like what they are doing because yes it does go against God but that doesn't give anyone any right to treat a homosexual any differently then anyone else, because the bible also tells us we must love and respect every other of God's creations.

Why does it matter if someone is gay or not? People are people and should be treated with respect and we should all love eachother. Not for the way we act or the people we love. But who is truely on the inside.

@Donna If this is such a horrible sin why would God make you that way? Doesn't the bible say that God and Jesus love every one? Why must we wish death on people because they don't love who YOU think they should love?! Did God give you permission to speak for him? You're in my thoughts and prayers, I wish you would stop your stupidity and open your damn eyes for once.

@Donna,
You're a stupid, arrogant and very small person. Remember those hateful, judgemental and INCORRECT words you spew when you meet your maker on "Judgement Day." That's perfect because you're full of it. Don't forget to look Jesus straight in the eye when he reminds you of the utmost tenet he preached: "Do not judge lest you be judged yourselves... Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? ...You hypocrite!" STOP USING THE BIBLE AS A JUSTIFICATION FOR YOU TO SPEW JUDGEMENT OF OTHERS - THE EXACT ANTITHESIS OF ITS MESSAGE.

Gwyneth Paltrow Quotes

I've learned more about myself being married than anything else. I hate to say, "We've got it worked out," because you never know what's going to happen, but we laugh, we're good friends, we like to do the same stuff.

Gwyneth Paltrow

It's hard being married. You go through great times, you go through terrible times. We're the same as any couple.
