Gwyneth Paltrow Blogs About Homosexuality, Alleged Bible Condemnation

by at . Comments

Gwyneth Paltrow took to her Goop blog today and raised an issue sure to result in numerous responses on both sides:

Does the bible truly condemn homosexuality? This is what the actress wrote:

A few months ago, in the heat of the tragic teen suicides that came about from intolerance of homosexuality, I saw a man on television who was apologizing for wishing death on gays from his facebook page. This member of an Arkansas school board was contrite for the violence in his words, but maintained that his values pertaining to homosexuality would remain, as he felt homosexuality was condemned in the bible.

This concept, while foreign to me, is interesting, as it used to justify so much judgement and separation in our society. When my daughter came home from school one day saying that a classmate had two mommies, my response was, "Two mommies? How lucky is she?!" What does it actually say in the bible that will cause some people to be upset by my line of thinking?

Respond away, THG readers. But try to keep it respectful as you answer: Does the bible condemn homosexuality?

im just saying homosexuality is not right, no one can be born gay because god does not make mistakes, if you are born gay this eliminated your ability to reproduce, that would mean god is imperfect

Hey Peace!!!! You talk about shovin things up the ass? The day will come when your colon will have to go from surgery and you'll be sitting there with just a colostomy bag.
The fact of the matter is, Peace, at some point, all goes wrong as a society when it becomes more and more accustomed to deeper and deeper levels of perversion. If you want to be rid of the bible, you'll need to replace it with some other standard of good. That standard of good will of course need to include all your lusts being raised high and applauded by those around you. It is not about being gay, it is about removing the road block that keeps you from experiencing anything you want. Society always has a standard, so someone will be summarizing your new commandments into some form of law book and then call it what you may.

So what next... oh... gwyneth is an actress... oh wow...NOW she's a "singer"????... and now a Pastor???? What is with her open and very VERBAL hatred of Gays and Transgenders??? She openly and freely calls transgenders "trannies"... that is the EQUIVALENT of using the "N" word and yet Hollywood embraces this BIGOT. What happens if one or both of her own children turn out to be Gay or Transgendered??? ABANDONMENT??? I pity her kids growing up with a mother so filled with HATE and CONDEMNATION....

I had a very strict religious upbringing, I was taught to hate, judge, and shun people, all in the name of God. As I grew older, I learned for myself, 'who am I to say what is right for somebody else?' I personally like to be around good people, no matterif they be gay or straight, fat or thin, black or white. We are all on this earth for such a short time, why in the world should we waste such a precious gift, LIFE, on hurting other people, that's truly sad. I am a straight woman, who believes every one deserves to have rights, everyone deserves to be loved. I feel there are a lot of really good people that don't go to church and Will make it to heaven, and there are an awful lot of Christians that probably won't make it there. I wish for fairness for all. Keep peace and love in your heart.

The bible does state that man shall not lie with man, but the question is whether the bible was written by man or God. Of course the answer is 'man' however believers would say otherwise. If you are a believer, and you believe in the bible as the word of god, then you believe homosexuality is a sin. But if you think homosexuality is acceptable, then you must at least admit that the bible is flawed.

So I am christian & I have gay friends. I have not found any scriptures straight forwardly condemning being gay. I think the 'anti' attitude has been handed down and around. So if ppl have a mind why waste it? Seek the truth for yourself...

Lauren, how DARE u call gay people fags. How dare u think they "turn" gay. I am beyond disgusted with ur comments. How about wen u cum face 2 face with God and have to defend ur disgraceful comments about his (gay) children. U shud be ashamed of urself. And may i add i am catholic and straight but everybody has a right 2 love and be loved in dis life whether straight or gay. God doesnt condemn love. So take ur stone age opinion and shove it up ur f***ing arse.

Its just another stupid fad that in my opinion needs to die out already. How dare you condem the person that gave you breath. Just so you know crazy when it comes time for the world to end you will be beggin for forgivness for discussting and volger words and perceptions of this God created planet. This post goes out to everyone on here who thinks they know what they are talking about.

Gwyneth Paltrow Quotes

I've learned more about myself being married than anything else. I hate to say, "We've got it worked out," because you never know what's going to happen, but we laugh, we're good friends, we like to do the same stuff.

Gwyneth Paltrow

It's hard being married. You go through great times, you go through terrible times. We're the same as any couple.
