Kirk Cameron on Stephen Hawking Heaven Theory: WRONG!

by at . Comments

British physicist Stephen Hawking may be one of the smartest humans of all time, but his recent claim that Heaven doesn't exist were guaranteed to generate significant backlash. Enter actor and Evangelical Christian Kirk Cameron.

Hugely active in his church, Kirk says Hawking, who called heaven a "fairy story for people afraid of the dark," has no scientific evidence to back that up.

Kirk Cameron on the Today Show

How can the Growing Pains star say that's the case?

Well, Cameron told TMZ the following: "Professor Hawking is heralded as 'the genius of Britain,' yet he believes in the scientific impossibility that nothing created everything and that life sprang from non-life."

"Why should anyone believe Mr. Hawking's writings if he cannot provide evidence for his unscientific belief that out of nothing, everything came? [Hawking] says he knows there is no Heaven. John Lennon wasn't sure."

"[Lennon] said to pretend there's no Heaven. That's easy if you try. Then he said he hoped that someday we would join him. Such wishful thinking reveals John and Stephen's religious beliefs, not good science."

There you have it. Kirk Cameron vs. John Lennon and Stephen Hawking, all in one story. Bet you didn't expect that in your daily dose of celebrity gossip!

What do you think, though? Is Heaven legit?

Hawking says there is no heaven. Jesus Christ says there is. But the question is a religious question. On religious matters, Jesus has more credibility than Hawking.

For someone who is supposed to be a "genius" I honestly don't think he knows what he is talking about on this subject. But thats just my opinion. If you believe in what the Bible says then Heaven exists...If you don't then it doesn't. It all comes down to what each individual believes. Reminds me of a quote I once heard..I don't know who said it but it is... To the believers no explaination is the non-believers no explanation will suffice.

If you want to believe something came from nothing, then you must believe in God, because something cannot come from nothing! God spoke, and it was! That is on powerful God, and I choose to be on His side, believe Him, and be with Him one day! Heaven is real, not just floating on some cloud. The Bible actually has more to say about HELL, it is a place of eternal torment, weeping, gnashing of teeth, and the worm (you and me) never dies, just is tormented for eternity (=absence of time) Hey go ahead, but I hope you don't go there, seriously! "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no man comes to the Father (in heaven) but by Me...Jesus. John 14:6

The bible is the not be decieved by the devil.repent before is too late.the devil comes with theories which are lies.he works tru people.evil and gud are always struggling in us.choose to do gud.for sin leads to early death.

Tell me where was all this matter that is the Universe, before the "The Big Bang" that produced the light and the hole through which the Universe as we know it, poured through, and spread through out space. Science says that for every action, there is a reaction. What was the action, that caused the reaction of the so-called Big-Bang. Could not have been evolution, because there was nothing to evolve from, Therefore some intelligence planned and directed Creation. Want to take on the theory of of an intelligent persona, that has no beginning and no end, but always was, and is now, and will always be. I do not think even Stephen Hawkins wants to attempt that. Unless his answer is a simplistic "Never existed" Maybe he can explain his own existance.

face it this a personnel and emotional thing. I have yet to witness a religion that didn't beleive thay had the ansewer, and refused to hear another point of view. More views lead to better informed ansewers. Nothing has ever been proven on either side of this question.

To Lisa:
History and the Bible are based on HIS STORY! Was anyone alive when Jesus walked the Earth and than wrote the Bible? I think not!
It's nice and all that you believe in God and Jesus but that's you, it's not the truth of end all be all.
randyjacksonsbutt said it very well.
And BTW-we all will die one day and whether we believe in Heaven or not, we do go on to the next life. PERIOD!!

it's so easy to talk about death and say you don't have to fear it because you're not going anywhere after you's a totally different thing to actually face death. every human being shows his/her true colors when really faced with death. i've had the chance to see atheists who claimed throughout their lives that they don't believe in God suddenly start praying when they thought they were going to die. that's because it'a a moment when you don't care about anything but your life. every human being believes in something that comes after this life, consciously or not, otherwise we couldn't go on with our lives

When you die you will be no worse off than before you were born. You come from nothing, you return to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing! Are people really so afraid of death that they have to fill their minds with such nonsense as heaven?

It's just a belief that people need. Some people need something to get them through life. Earth and our whole galaxy was created by the Big Bang. People evolved from lower species. If this wasn't true there wouldn't be proof of it. The sooner people stop using religion as an excuse to hide their own fear and hate the better. You have have your god, heaven, hell but don't use it to try and control and punish others thoughts and beliefs. We evolved out of dirt and we go back into dirt. Simple as that. It is up to you what you think happens after wards.
