The Real Housewives of NYC Season Premiere Recap: The Glitz, Glamor and Snark Return!

by at . Comments

The Real Housewives of New York City are back and time away has done nothing to heal old wounds. Perhaps if these ladies retracted their claws, it might slow the bloodshed. But then again, what fun would that be?

Bethenny Frankel has jumped ship to start her own reality series but Jill Zarin is still smarting from the loss of the friendship.

In true Jill fashion, she lays all of the blame at Bethenny's door, stating that her former friend is just one of the those women who no longer has a need for her girlfriends as soon as she finds a husband.

Ah, Jill. Nice way to take your share of the responsibility for the breakup.

Jill Zarin Cries

Jill's losing friends fast. Alex and Jill just can't stay away from one another and Ramona keeps fueling that fire. Seems that Jill's good friend is enjoying throwing arch nemesis Alex in her path every chance she gets.

The new and improved Alex says her goal is to voice her opinions but it looks more like she's gunning for a fight. There's speaking your mind and then there's just being bitchy. I'm not sure Alex knows the difference yet.

Speaking of bitchy, Alex's little scene with Jill at the wedding certainly showed her spiteful side. Although Jill's explanation about being on an "honorary committee" sounded patently absurd.

Apparently it's a committee for people who care enough to lend their name but not quite enough to actually show up for the event.

How does Jill retaliate against Alex and Ramona? By dissing their wardrobe choices with other wedding guests. You've got to love pseudo high society.

The new girl, Cindy Barshop, is a successful entrepreneur and single mom to twins. Those babies were downright adorable and I love the matching Burberry outfits.

The art gallery fundraiser was just plain funny. Who decided that it was a good idea for all of the guests to take off their shoes and walk through paint. As Cindy pointed out, "There's like $100,000 in shoes here."  Her estimate probably wasn't far off.

Taking Some Shots

How nice of Jill to notice that Cindy was feeling uncomfortable by her questions. Ya think? Hi, I'm Jill. I know we've just met but let me ask you all kinds of personal questions about your love life and fertility issues, and in a public forum no less. Oye.

And what was up with Simon's outfit? A plaid jacket and striped leather pants. Honestly, I wouldn't be seen with my husband if he dressed like that.

Does anyone else want to break it to Alex that her modeling gig is about her celebrity, not her looks? And was I the only one who found Simon leering at the pictures of Alex on the computer a little creepy?

Sonja and LuAnn's double date was simply boring. Brian was sort of cute but I wouldn't mind if I never saw Jacques again. Then again, I'll watch Jacques every week if I can avoiding hearing LuAnn sing this season.

We barely caught a glimpse of Kelly but it looks like nothing has changed.

The problem isn't hers, it's everyone else's. I'll miss her fights with Bethenny but I'm sure she'll find another target the next time she falls off the deep end. However she did deliver one of the best lines of the night when she talked about inviting Alex and Simon to the fundraiser. "I know that they'll come to the opening of an envelope." Too true.

Here we go with season four of all the glitz, glam and snark. Are you ready?

What Kelly would have been more funny had Bethenny not said it on Season 1 or 2 - Kelly is freaking original! LOL!

Let us never forget that it was Jill who brought Betheny onto the Real Housewives Series... Does anyone recall Frankel being on Martha Stewrarts apprentice show..Nah neither. She wasnt even so much as anyone's wife. I honestly enjoyed the Jill & Betheny show. There freindship seemed so genuine and Jill was nothing but a nuturing mother. Watching Betheny's spin off is like pealing a scab off a wound. You see exactly how damaged and neurotic Betheney Frankel is. Obviousley she pushed away Jill Zarin because of her hatred for her own birth mother. It's the "I will punish you before you can abandon me" syndrome. Watching Betheney call "shots" on her new husband visitation rights to his own parnets is sickening. Hope she doesn't screw up her poor little daughters head.

Jill is sooo jealous of Bethenny it's hilarious!! As for her changing? Maybe her hairdut and thats bout it!

This show makes me feel queesy. Bethanny's show is fun and REAL. Bethanny NEVER belonged with this pack of b*tches. Someone wrote Bethanny has no friends. LOL If this display of envy, jealous, back biting and insanity is what "friends" thanks!
BTW Jill Zarin needed to put more clothes on for the WWHL. How old is she? Not pretty. Doesn't she have a realy friend she could have run that out fit by. Yikes.

I missed it! I know it will be back on and with my full attention. lol

I no longer like Jill. As stated in the above article, Jill has not changed. She always blame others in whatever incident happens to be going on and never admits to any share of the drama. If anyone saw the interactions on previous shows, they should be able to see how Jill turned Bethany away time and time again, because she refused to let go of grudges, that even she admits too. How long does someone have to kiss someones ass to stay friends. Bethany reachd out, and Jill rejected her. Jill loves attention, she's very materialistic, always talking about what something cost, and once you cross her,she can be very unforgiving. If she has really changed, people will see it, and she will not have to try and convince anyone. She has already told her first lie on the first episode of this season. Great start Jill.

Will I hate Jill n Kelly ...

Ok, two things. First, not one of these women are real, nevermind a "housewife", most are not even married at all. So what's with the show title "Real Housewives"? Second, these women seem to be stuck in a state of arrested development at around the age of 17. They do not act at all like grown women but like highschool girls more concerned with looks and petty cat fights than with reality and life as an adult. They all strike me as very shallow, self important and immature. Not one of them seems to have a clue about what real life is, nor do they seem to care, and that is kind of sad. This mindset may work for them now, but in the long run, someday they will be 70 and their looks and plastic surgeorys will no longer hold up. And not having developed real and mature relationships and friendships they will likely be alone, desprate for attention and wondering why.

'she walked away from Jill once Jill rejected her one time too many.' Um, what was she supposed to do - grovel at Jill's feet begging her to stop rejecting her over and over again? Just to have a friend, who obviously isn't that great a friend anyway? I don't know about you, but if a frined rejects me, I walk.

hilarious and very spot on. Jill has changed nothing except to declare she has changed. still a spiteful, pushy obnoxious bitch. Alex is trying to assert herself and she will have to learn. Simon is still gay or bi or whatever. Luanne is still pretentious and doesn't get that the new boyfriend is kissing her ass for a reason and it's not love. Ramona is still sneaky and full of herself but still likeable. This is going to be fun.
